Do you have to break in a transmission?

Is there any break in process to a new transmission, when can you become aggressive if needed with it again?

It'll break itself . . . sorry, couldn't resist. :P

Nothing special for the tranny. Just drive it as you normally would break in the engine . . . if you care to that is.

new tranny feels a little awkward, hard shifts into 2-3...but no slippage yet. I havent floored it because I dont know if I need to break it in, which Ive been asking.

i dunno i guess you should give it a 100-250 mile break in, it is better then just flooring the shit outta of it, str8 from the dealer

That's EXACTLY how mine feels. Hard shift from 2-3 at almost all throttle positions.

Still no slippage after about 15k miles.

mr steve, did you drive nicely for a 1,000 miles before you really got on it...or did you hit it pretty quickly. Im gettign so anxious to try and feel if I got any power loss.

I wouldn't think that it needs to be broken in like an engine. Not for 1,000 miles or so like engines. Maybe 1-200. Just to make sure everything is okay.
