Do you guys still do this??

Warn other drivers that there's a radar trap or cop w/radar in the area.

Or be a sick bastard and see who gets caught.

I still signal people when the coast is clear and disable my V1 remote to let people behind me know.

I guess it's old fashioned southern driving, and some habits need not be broken.

I only warn oncoming drivers if I was warned by someone. If no one flashes me, I don't flash anyone else!!

i do the flashing and the braking thing to others...if u guys don't know about the braking thing, u tap your brake lights on and off repeatedly for a few seconds...i usually do a double tap..like <tap> <tap> wait half a second <tap> <tap>...similar to a heart beat...i've seen people on Long Island do it, but rarely.

question...what purpose does it solve to turn your V1 off?? can the cops detect u have a detector??

I know I would cuz I was saved by a BMW's warning last Sat while going to Austin. He flashed twice slowly so I slowed down while the truck behind me switched lane and sped up . He got pulled over and I kept driving. Thanks that BMW.

I'm only turning off the remote display, and the main unit's LEDs are enabled again.

V1 owners will know what I mean.

Habit I guess.

Back in the OLDE days, people use to draft someone that had a radar detector. Following lane changes, speeds, etc. So I used the remote often.

And it works great driving thru VA and DC at night.

Hmmm.... If everyone used that logic, then NOBODY would ever flash anybody.

Think about it.

I always flash, although I heard you can get pulled over for that :shrugs:

I never heard of the brake thing though, although I pay attention to the road when I speed and if a fast car in a front of me is braking, I will slow down too. Common sense.

In AZ noone ever flashes anyone. I was driving in British Columbia last summer and everyone was flashing me. I flashed them right back, thinking they thought me brights were on or something...little did I know there was a cop around the corner. I felt like a jerk. Those friendly Canadians were only trying to help me out...

I drive on the highway I-19 to work each day, V1 works great, I always flash if I 've driven by a trap, come on its us against them, help a friend out. As far as being able to be detected by the police, The V1 can't. While police to have radar detector detectors, the V1 has a radar detector detector dectector ans when it detects one it temp. shuts off and warns you. Whew!

What kind of V1 do YOU have??? The V1 website states: (and I recall my manual saying something like this)
"...So VG2 misses Valentine One. But even if it were tuned to the right spot, we'd still be hard to find because we use sophisticated filtering. In our tests, Valentine One is better than all others for VG2-proofing"

I don't see any light or anything that would tell me that a detector detector is running!

But I've been known to be blind sometimes too...

I didn't know V1 shuts down

The orginal rumor was the RDD locks-in on a leaky RD, but the V1 was able to change or cycle different leaky frequencies. Therefore, the RDD never locks-in. THAT'S MY LIE, AND I'M STICKING WITH IT. :p

Where's kensteele when you need answers
