"Ding Strip" for CL...yes or no?

The only thing that bothers me about my CL-S is that it didn't come with a "Ding Strip." Every time I park in a lot I worry about getting beat to shit by someone in a shit box who doesn't give a shit how he or she opens their car door. My wife thinks I'm nuts because I park a mile away from the Mall entrance. My local body shop can install a strip for me. Do you think it will effect the looks of the car much? Should I...yes or no? Thanks.

i personally would NOT do it for so many reasons...first of all, it's not from the factory, so yer running into dampness issues behind the body-side moldings...plus since it's not OEM, the look is most likely gonna clash and cause a fugly appearance...IMO, the moldings are not worth the eyesoar and the potential body damage from not being able to clean the area properly

I just can't imagine seeing a CL with those things... Just doesn't seem to fit the whole look of the car. And as mentioned earlier, I'd be concerned about the adhesive over the long term.

I feel your pain my fellow Americans

That exact thing happened to me. Parking lots around here are so fucking small and on my passenger side there was a slight ding that dented right at the ridge part where the handle is, about 12 inches in front of it. You can tell when the light hits the side and there's a color warp. It hurts every time I see it. I heard about some paintless ding removal services that take off your panel and bangs it out or something like that. Anyone try it? I also have one on the front right panel that a rock flew up and hit. Looks like a BB gun shot wound.

My wife doesn't give a shit...she parks her TL anywhere. It's not a top priority with her.
