Ding resistent?

Ok... Pretty soon it's going to be the year 2002 right?
Then why can't the car makers produce a dent resistent car???? I know that Saturn has the dent-resistent body panels, but for the love of $%& why not the rest of cars? And most importantly why not our Cl's?????

because dent resistant panels make the car look ugly because they are softer and expand and contract more, requiring the panel gaps to be larger which makes the car look uglier. and painting the polymer panels is different from painting onto metal so the paint doesn't look as good and probalby doesn't hold up as well considering all the expanding and contracting the panels do.

Wind noise and all other noise is increased because of the lighter rubber panels.

not all that desirable.

i just wish i could know who the people ar when they ding the doors/bumpers. Then I'd have insurance take care of them etc...

we could have 1/2 thick sheet metal, that might help, course the car would be heavier than it already is

I heard not too long ago that scientist have developed a reproducing compound resin. This means that when your plastic bumper is scraped by that acura-seeking shopping cart, the plastic once scraped will release the resin which fills in the void with the exact same color and compound!!!! Should find a niche in the automotive market in the next three years.
