Dilemma - White 6speed non-navi OR Black auto Navi?

I have the option to switch to a Black 03 auto CLS with Navi from my white 03 6 speed non-Navi. Similar low mileage, Navi is more money but price not a big factor for me.
I like the black looks and Navi more, but undecided on the transmission.
i'm afraid of the automatic, and resale will be bad once the reputation for the auto trans is established. But I think the slush is more practical. I know it's my own decision and I have to decide. Both cars are nice, but I think the clutch is effecting my previous back problem.

the six speed is of course more fun to drive, and that would be my first choice. But ifyou're back is ailing you, then the auto would be a logical choice. The Navi is also a bonus.

you answered your own question in your other thread, 6 speed will be more desirable down the road

dont get the auto the navi isnt worth it, although it would be fun to play with on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck after your trans goes out

6-speed....just go see a chiropractor or physical therapist to fix your back

if your back is really bothering you, perhaps you don't have your seat set right? or is it because your left foot is pushing on something too much...you need to even out the usage of both feet while in the car!

I had back and knee problems with my BMW years ago, and traded it for a '98 3.2 TL-P. It was much easier on my back, but I've lost a lot of weight since then, and I'd be interested to see how a 6-speed would be for me long-term. I hadn't really considered it much, but now, I'm not so sure I'd jump at the 6-speed if tranny #3 goes.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't help you much, did I? Uuuuhhhh...dunno what to recommend.

Funny, funny JakeCL! I don't really want Navi, I want the built-in screen to mod for DVD play, and mp3 audio option, and maybe a camera. Looks better than aftermarket LCD installs and is easier.

I'm mostly afraid of the auto trans having problems. The 6 speed is definitely more fun and responsive and I wanted it. The seat is adjusted but I still feel it is too high! It won't go any lower, and it's pretty comfortable overall, but the slush would be more practical, I'm realizing. Mine is white/tan, more practical in TX heat.
I just didn't expect to find used 03s so soon. I was gonna wait a year to buy a used 03 but I couldn't. And then the strong rumors there will not be many more CLS's added to that.
I'll decide later today when I drive the black auto.
thanks for the comments, I know it's divided on which trans is better, it's apersonal preference, I love the 6 speed but my back would like the auto better. I needed this 2 week test drive!

this is an easy question. Do you ENJOY driving a manual? Don't get the manual just because you are afraid of the auto or because its more cool to drive the 6 speed.

I have an extremely bad back (arthitis/out of alignment) and I drive a manual in LA traffic everyday. The only thing that gets wearing when traffic is really really bad is my clutching foot, but I still wouldnt drive an automatic if you gave it to me.

keep the 6spd, youll love yourself for it in the long run.

As much as i regret not buying the Navi....given the choice of the navi or a six speed.....that is a no brainer. 6-speed all the way, baby!! I just wish i had the money to do the trade right now!!
