Diffuser off and I'm lovin it

Took off the diffuser and I'm loving it!

I hated! the ssssssssss noise with the wind passing over it at highway speeds and it vibrated up and down at 80-120km/h and would NOT stop...

I'm not one to put up with that crap so I took it out.

I took a quick look and 2 screws it was off... Literally a 1 min job.

Saved the parts too so if I change my mind I'd put er back on. But it's better for sure to me now. I'll take the "airplane jet noise" over that hissing any day.

Plus is saves the sunroof motor a wi bit, wooohooo. big whop.

great mod for all the weight savers too, shave a big 300grams off your ride with this moonroof deflector delete process.. 2 screws and you're done

This doesn't affect the seal of the sunroof for rain etc?

I think I might do this, SO loud on the highway.

How is the wind buffetting at highway speeds without it?

more like a deep air sound that comes and goes, vs the diffuser which is a HISSING wind sound.

We're talking about the built in diffuser, not that stupid plastic accessory thing.

What is the reason on this particular car for having the diffuser ?? I pretty pure its suppose to cut down on wind noise( @ 50km-70km it makes an offal noise like my heads going to explode )

Because I think Im going to take it off today but Im afraid its going to catch air and break the back window or something and I know you say its fine but I was just wondering if anyone knows the true reason for it being on this car ????

It is the thing that pops up when open the sunroof to deflect the wind if you reach up when the sunroof is open you can push it down and pops up

I believe thats what this thread is about LOL except I dont think its called a diffuser ( but seems like an OK name for it)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffuser

^^check it out, I didn't make it up... well sort of, i'm bending the rules^^ 1st definition

It's for reducing the engine cabin wind. and thus makes that hissing noise. That new deep noise you hear is the air swooping in and out slightly through the opened moon-roof. Lol I like it more though, anythings better than that hissing.

wind blocker thingy does sound JOKES though. i luv it

Im actually wondering what sort of hit our fuel economy would take with this mod. Before with the sunroof open, the wind blockerer thingy would push the air over the opened sunroof. Now the air can come in, thus creating drag. It would be miniscule, but it may be something I experiment with.

1st gens don't have diffusers... Works alright for me too, always have moonroof and windows open when the weather is nice with no problems. If the diffuser if giving you problems then by all means, just take that sucker off and loose some weight!
