Different years have different side mirrors?!?!?

Long story short, I did not do my research and bought a used passenger side mirror from a member here on AZ. Installed it not knowing it's different till I took a couple steps back and noticed the different mirrors(shape, angle, etc...) should have already seen the red flag when I threw it in reverse and the pass. mirror did not tilt down :/

Was there a different mirror between an auto/tiptronic and 6 speed Manuel?? Man, got a lot to learn...

Does anyone have a used/new mirror for the passenger door side?

Only 01's had different mirrors than 02-03's because the 01's made wind noise so they redesigned them for the newer years. It doesn't matter what trans is in the car that doesn't make a difference. Also 02-03's are fully painted.

So all 02 and 03s mirrors should turn to the ground when in reverse?

doesnt matter the year, they all tilt down in reverse. the one you bought is either broke or not not plugged in

The 01 mirrors are easily identifiable due to the black plastic along the bottom and the base. The 02-03s are slightly smaller and fully painted.

01s:

02-03s:

The 02-03s will fit 01s and vice versa. There is no difference in wiring.

Lesson learned the hard way...

The angle of the 01 is different( when mounted to door) and I can see the 01 has a different shape to it

@pdiddy: I plugged in both of the connectors so I'm pretty sure it's broken. Just my luck...

You also need the mirror switch set to the middle position for the reverse tilt to work.

Definitely! I placed the mirror switch to the center and it works. It still bugs me that I have a different mirror on the passenger side but everyone else swears it's not noticible
