Unhappy Different Experience.......

Last night I went out on my moms car (Toyota Avalon). Before I had my CL-S I always though the car was quick. I felt it had a lot of power and enjoyed driving it. Last night I could not drive the car. I had to put the car into 2L becuase I felt so under powered. Its like night and day. Untill I got into my car today, I never felt how fast the car really is.

On another hand, today on the freeway I was going to work, and it opened up I hit about 100, and passed a 2001 Ford Lightning SVT. The guy punched it and flew by me at a speed that I didnt even comprehand. Now I know that this truck is supercharged 5.4-liter V8, generating 380hp and 450 ft-lb of torque and runs a quarter mile time of 13.7 and 0-60 in the 5.4 but still, I didnt think that he would fly by me so bad.

Either way I am just wenting, kinda killed my fast car high. Come on CL owners, make me feel better about this.

CL has a high output V6 which not many others in its class can compare to this engine, lightning V8 can still get owned by the SRT-10 Ram any day. I wouldn't really say that the CL is a fast car, but it's quick for its size and it's definitely much more fun to drive than any family car! Keep in mind for the dame price of the CL you could've bought a mustang cobra if you wanted a fast car. CLs are just so damn smooth and are much less common than mustangs.

I would say the CL is pretty fast till it hits triple digits (end of 3rd gear). Once it hits 4th gear it is pretty slow.

Trust me, nothing makes the CL fast like having to use a tiny 4 cylinder S-10 for a work truck With my foot to the floor it struggles to accelerate

BUt it makes me love my CL that much more

Dont feel too bad about your car. After all its a luxury car, not a race car. If you wanted something fast you could afford a lot of faster cars for the same money. One great example is the SRT-4, which is worth 20K. With the money I payed for the CL i could buy an SRT-4 and have like 10K to mod it and make it even faster.

True, you could have done that. BUT, you would have also ended up at the dealership every 5k for breakdowns, a year after buying it for a new paintjob from it peeling off the primer (though I think they have fixed this now), and then finally just break down completely at 50k. Oh yeah, and even if all that doesn't happen, all you have to do is look at them and see that after all the mods that it has gone through, the little thing is STILL a Neon.

Every time I look at those cars, no matter what kind of Neon, I still think of their marketing them for the first time with their, "HI!" campaign.

And besides all that, they are abnoxiously loud, really uncomfortable to ride in and they STILL won't blow our CL away.

Don't know about that. I've raced my friends with SRT-4's a lot, and I don't have a chance at keeping up with them.
