Determining the life of HID bulbs

I've been wanting to buy Philips Ultinon 6000k bulbs for a while now, but haven't wanted to dish out $270 for em brand new. I came across a guy who is selling them for a pretty good deal, and he says they've only been used for about 50 hours. However, the guy doesn't have much of a reputation, so I have no idea whether I could trust the guy or not. What I'm asking is, say I bought the bulbs. When I received them, would there be any way to know if the bulbs still had a lot of life in em? How can I tell? What if they go out 2 months later? So, is there any way to determine how long a HID bulb has been used? Or...how much life is left in em?

Would you recommend not buying these bulbs used? Input please

`John

Check the l.m of the lamp. The lifetime of the lamp means the the l.m. drops to 50% of its original l.m.

Here is the example of how lumen decays

Date 6/8 6/14 7/6 7/28 8/17 9/20
Hours 0 100 500 750 1000 1500
L.m. 6703 6232 5759 5598 5340 5072

So, check the l.m of his lamp, if it is still bright enough, then it should be ok.

Use cl200 lumenmeter to determine the l.m. of the lamp.

Ok I'm just a regular old guy who's got absolutely no idea what that is, and...yeah. And I'm more than likely not gonna go out and buy one. Is there a place I can take em to to get them checked on this cl200 gizmo thing of a majig?

The brightness (lumenous flux) gradually decreases with the lapse of lighting time.

lumen= lumenous flux
lumenmeter= instrument which is used to determine the brightness of a light source

Is it clear now? My friends.
