Depreciation....

Anyone realize how much value the CL has lost in the past year... i just realized when i called Honda Finance to check my payoff.
KBB CL-S 13,000 miles =~ $23,000
Ouch....

I am really considering trading it in for something that will hold value better. CLK Maybe?

coupes just don't hold value very well when compared to a sedan.

PDG resale will do better over time!!

Anyone want to bet that PDG color will do better over time?? With how well the paint is holding up and all the great comments we get, I'll bet when we go to move it, we'll have a pretty easy time selling it.....despite the controversy over the color. Wouldn't trade it since the dealers are pretty "scared" of the color! (My buddy is still trying to get his 330ia as fast, including extensive Dinan mods.) I'm pissed off too at the reasle value of these coupes-it stinks. That's why I gave mine to my wife and "offed" her Civic Si for a much better resale. Three and a half years in the Honda and I got 80% of new price.

Agree! Unless you're buying a collectors car, any car will depreciate.... and thanks to the CL-S's fairly high depreciation, I found I could get my 01 CL-S for the same $$$ as a new 02 Accord EX V6

And good Lord, you get so so soooo much more with a 1 year old CL-S.... I love it!

I don't know why the CL-S depreciates so much. I mean, between a 01 CL-S 5AT and a 03 CL-S 5AT, there's virtually no difference except tails (grill is so minor).

(And if you want to see REALLY shitty resale value, check on a 2 year old Audi....)

mercedes cl's barely depreciate at all. my dad was looking into buying one and he could either buy a used cl500 with 15k miles for over $100k or he could wait a year and order a new one for a little over $90k...this was at a dealership so im sure they upped the price a little bit but im sure the guy that sold his back didnt lose too much money...its all about supply and demand

The CL Benz holds strong because they only import 2500 a year.....a big Benz dealership only gets like 8-10 per year.

PDG does look good, but if you want a new car in the next year or two- plan on getting your feelings hurt for having PDG. I'm just happy I leased it.

yeah-suddenly my lease isn't looking so bad either.

especially if i have someone take over the remaining year for me so i can get me a manny transmission (finally). f*ck, if i would have bought the car, i wouldn't even be thinkin about it--i would lose a fortune!!

Well... i drove a C 320 today... and wow... talk about smooth V6 sound. Well i appreciate the comments from all you guys.
But i dont think the CL-S should be loosing this much value. It seems Acura is having a hard time shaking the low resale value curse. I know new cars depreciate but this is pretty low... $27k at just over a year is low but understandable for a $32k car new.
Anyway, thanks again guys!
I know i can count on an unbiased() opinion from you Acura-heads...

Ehhhh, this does suck.. I thought Acura was supposed to have great resale value compared to most companies.

At least the CL is probably doing better than a Cadillac. I think some of those can take a 50% hit in one year.

yeah when it came down to the final two cars i was lookin at it was between an 02 Accord EX V6 and the 01 CLS. i dont regret it either i love the power and if it were not for the shitty resale i wouldnt have this pimp ride, i'd have pimp ride still but slower.
