VIN analysis

This is what I was shown in deciphering the VIN:

Example for a 2003 CL-S with auto 5 spd and navi/OnStar:

19U YA4 2 7 5 3A 001XXX
Breakdown of elements
1st 3 digits = Honda

2nd 3 digits = CL

3rd single digit (2) = 2 door, 5 speed

4th single digit (7) = Type-S with Navigation

5th single digit (5) = check digit (whatever that is)

6th double digit (3A) = 2003

7th set of 6 digits (001XXX) = serial number

For what it is worth. Hope it helps.

then how do you know what number of production your car is? via the serial number?

if that's the case my serial number is 001300, which means number 1300 of production? damn I feel like I've got a 'beta' version of the CL!
