From what I understand, heating the emblems with a hairdryer or heat gun (be careful w/ a heat gun) will soften the adhesive. After the adhesive softens from being warmed up, with some dental floss you can pull away the emblems from the paint.

I bet others who have done it personally may be able to give you a bit more advice-

greyjhu said it right. once the letters are off though, the "goo" that is left behind is hard to get off. try goo gone or some other solvent, and once the letters are off, use a cleaner wax to remove any ghost lines. be careful if you have a darker color car that is a little older, as there may be tan lines from fading.

If you're car is older you may have alot of dirt build-up and/or discoloring.. If that occurs use a clay bar to clean it up as a final step..

I took the gay front license plate holder of the front of my first gen CL as soon as I got it but there is some discoloration right around the edges - it's a yellowish tint on top of my white paint - looks focking bad. What's the best way (if even possible) to get that shit off?

Clay bar would be first shot...
If that didn't work then you'd try and buff it out.

Don't mess with a heat gun or a hairdryer. Boil a pot of water and pour it down over the emblem. Then use dental floss - mint works best - and then goo gone. Wash it up, wax it up and you are all done.

I took my emblem off with a rusty screw driver. I then dipped the hair dryer (plugged in of course) into hot water, rubbed it on the paint and poured the Goo Gone all over my head. Then I took a clay bar and moulded it into a small zoo animal- a Zebra to be exact, I then super-glued it onto the front of the hood.

Mono filament fishing line, the thinner the better. A nice summer day's heat should be enough heat. Then clean up the remaining adhesive with mineral spirits, and rewax the area.
I debaged my old 90 Legend Coupe, and it looked good. I guess I should debadge my CL-S before someone does it for me.... Or should I paint the badges body color?
