Dealer-installed wood dash

OK, yet another question. This board is such a great resource, I'm just mad I JUST found out about it!

The NJ dealer where I bought my CL-S had a woodgrain dash installed on the car already (otherwise there's no way I'd pay $400 for a piece of plastic!), but the car was a good deal.

Problem is, they mounted the thing crooked. It's not on straight and does not line up with the blinker holes or trip odometer buttons. I'd like to straighten it myself since I do not trust them, and I'm in NC right now!

Let me tell you... that thing is ON THERE! Has anyone taken their's off? Do you think heating it with a blow dryer, then pushing it to where I want it would work? I don't want to pull it off and crack anything.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, and I got the windows tinted too, about 5 weeks ago so everyhting is cured. Anyone know of a way to mount tint, or cover up the area at the top of the back window? As you know, there's a HUGE matrix of little black dots that looks bad when tint is applied to it. Anyone discovered a nice way to tint the back window? As is now, they tinted over it, but about half of the dots filled in, and the others turned white. Looks kinda nasty up close!

Sorry, I'm a new CL owner with many questions!

I installed my black marble dash piece myself. It is held on with about 2 dozen little strips of very sticky double-sided spongy tape. There is no way you are going to heat it up and slide it. The tape would flex rather than transplant.

The trim piece is highly flexible, and the dash isn't going anywhere. I think your only recourse is to heat everything up and start gently prying it up. Once off, you can remove all the tape and get some new tape. If you break it, its only $85 to get another one

Have you read my post on the A/C problems with the car. I wish I had a reputable dealer to take it back to, but my Acura Dealer SUCKED, and there's no way they'll re-do it. Instead of fixing a few paint chips that were on the car when I bought it, they sent me a bottle of touch-up paint and basically said, do it yourself!

I also NEVER recieved an evaluation from Honda for them. Wonder if they knew I was dissatisfied and stopped it from happening.

Try talking to the dealer about it. If he refuses to help, call Acura. If you have a receipt showing the dealer installed the trim it would be very helpful. Just tell them they did a shitty job of installing it and you want it redone or a refund for the trim.

i did it myself for a perfect looking install (used the turn indicator holes as a guide).

I'd take the thing back and make them fix it, or better yet, put on another one because they'll probably end up scratching it while removing it...a crooked bumper is covered under warranty, shouldn't a crooked trim peice be also?

or you can even take it to another dealer (one that may be better?)...and if you need proof that it was already installed when you got the car, it should be listed on the window sheet (i had to ask for that sheet when i was picking up the car).

This should be covered under warranty since the trim kit should be a "Genuine Acura Part" because it came from the dealer.

Request that they fix it under warranty. If not, take this issue to Acura customer care and have a District Manager address this!
