Dealer Allocations

I've been lurking about for awhile and have finally decided that I'd like to buy a '03 MT. I've talked to a couple of dealers--same old BS about short supply etc. Basically, I don't think that they have a car to trade for in Calif. (I want a red, black interior, no navi) so I'll have to wait for dealers to get their next allocation. Can someone tell me how often dealers get their allotments? Any experience or thoughts about CarsDirect as a way of not having to deal with the sales nonsense??

Well, to be honest, on this one they're not lying... there really is a short supply. Acura is only making 2700 6-speed CL-S', so the allotment is probably based on orders. I don't think that many dealers will have supply of 6-speeds on the lot that are unsold. If you really want this car and you're really set on that color/navi configuration, the odds are you will have to put money down and have one ordered. I mean, Shawn S on this board changed his order from a Red to a Blue and it added weeks onto his wait b/c of the limited quantities. The dealers probably get a couple in certain colors... after those are sold you need to order one to get it in a specific layout. It also makes dealer swapping next to impossible.....

Start calling the dealers in the Bay Area!!!! Oakland Acura, Pleasanton Acura, Stevens Creek Acura in San Jose, and one more on the Peninsula in Burlingame that I can't think of right now. If you are serious, call and get one. They won't last forever!!!

Did you look at Niello ? They had a bunch a couple of weeks ago. If you get one be sure to join up with us fellow Sacramento owners. We meet just about every month and drive the foothill twisties. Good luck.
