De-badging the anus

You'll have to pardon my 3rd post in the past hour. I'm just excited to find a place where CL owners unite. Anyhow, does anyone know if the badges on the trunk are just held on with adhesive, or are there holes once there're removed? Thank you for your time.

everything is held on with 2 sided tape except the acura "A" emblem that will have to stay on because along with the 2 sided tape there are 2 prongs that fit in 2 holes in the trunk.

The "A" has (2) centering holes.
The others are just stuck on.

I don't know - on my screen DWI's answer came first and you were a copy-cat! Winner by a nose.

Cool! Another AZ member... I think we're up to about 5 now... yippee

We have some photoshopped pics floating around here somewhere with some/all of the badges removed. I have the 3.2CL and Type S badges removed from my car. I've also seen a car with the A C U R A removed. Didn't really like that with the Acura symbol sitting way up at the top of the trunk. Looked a bit funky, IMHO. Anyways, here's my ride with one badge removed

watch and learn, here is my car, and LOOOK, there is a REd badge on the back, IT took some tearin off of the tapoe on the back, and some hammering from inside the trunk to knock out the prongs. I love the way it looks and it even lights up too.

What did you use to remove the badges? I have heard elsewhere on this board that dental floss and fishing line work well. Do you have any impression or residue marks on the paint?

I used dental floss. It leaves quite a bit of residue on there which full strength Goo Gone will take off very easily. I didn't have any Goo Gone at first, and being generally lazy I didn't want to go to the store. So I tried to very carefully use a plastic kitchen scraper to get the residue off. DO NOT DO THIS!!! Despite my caution I left some very tiny scratches that are seen in certain light. Plus it was a huge pain. I eventually went to the store and bought Goo Gone and the rest of the residue came off in about 30 seconds. I had been scraping at the damn thing for over an hour

i used a hair dryer to soften up the residue for a couple minute then use a dental floss and slide it between the emblem. it should come off very easily.. after that i used some sort of adhesive remover made by 3m to get off the goo. wipe it off the adhesive remover then wax the car!!!

so taking off your badges makes you a ricer? i think not, it adds more class to your car. Why would company's like BMW and Mercedes offer badgeless packages if it was rice?

I think I am going the way of GoldTypeS this weekend and taking the CL Type S off. I am going to remount the Type S on the dash in front of the passenger seat.

BTW, use the minted floss, it works better then the regular non flavored kind.

I just wanted to thank you guys for your tips. I used (minted) dental floss and a hair dryer, followed up with some adhesive release and removed all the badges off the back end. It went very smooth, and didn't leave a scratch. Thanks.

Probably because when you SEARCH it skips most of 2002 and only gives results from 2001.
