Question DC Power 180 amp alternator

My alternator is dying so I'm looking to get a high output one for my 01 CLS. Anyone using the DC Power 180amp alternator? Just wondering how it is.

Before jumping on this, call around. Many local shops will rewind your alternator for higher output for less.

Thanks man. I'll see if anyone near me can do that. My car just yesterday got to the point that when I'm at a stop, my car dies and the battery light comes on. Once I put the car in park and then remove and reinsert the key, it starts up again.

Are you running high power stereo's or lights? If not it's a waste of $.
The stock 120amp works well.

I do have a JL Audio 1001/1 and 300/4 amp in the car so I figure I may as well get a high output alternator. For as long as I can remember, my dash lights have dimmed whenever I roll a window up or down plus when I come to a complete stop.

Sounds like the alternator is just on its way out, I would just get another stock one honestly.

I'd investigate in getting it rewound then. I have used power master & Iraggi alternators before. They work well but are $. Also you may be able to use a higher 160amp off a newer Acura TL or oddessy. And make sure to replace your alt to battery cable with something heavier gauge then stock or run it on top of the stock cable.

Thanks for your help everyone! I've found an alternator place nearby and I'll check with them on getting mine rewound rather than spending $450 on the DC Power one.
