dash crack

Has anyone experienced this with their cl or cls? center of my dash split open about 1/2in in the form of x.. Dont know how it happened but im 100 positive that I didnt do this nor should any dash crack open like this.. this happened about a year ago and acura patched it up and now it split again in the same spot and now that im out of warranty they are telling me its my problem.. Its almost funny, the service guy tells me that acura usally dont cover things like this and they did me a favor by fixing it the first time..
Well I raised hell and told them I would rather buy kia nextime if this was going to happen and they werent taking the resonsibility of something like this... and he responds with a brief print out and trys to explain the possibilities...
He says... the suction cup marking on the windshield and that you have on your windshield are clear and the heat from the sun maginifies the suction cups and may burn the dash...
I about beat his ass when I heard this.. I fipped out and now their patching the damn dash again.. I currently have 56k miles on it and they did the first patch around 35k while it was in warrantee. Which I told them that they have assumed the defect by fixing it the first time, thus it would have to be covered 2nd time around.
Dont you guys think I deserve a new dash after all this bs?

im really considering talking with Acura corporate about this issue and how poorly the service man handled a situation and how they might loose a customer for life because of the lack of management skills they had at that location, to hire such a fool.

I'm not sure what to say but, wow. Take a picture of this, I can't exactly visualize what's happened to your dash. I do believe they were throwing out some with that suction cup deal.

Talking to Acura care about it wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

Well, if you had it done a year ago, it may be covered by the 1 year/12K mile warranty that applies to any fixed problem from an Acura dealer.
Post a pic though, we all want to see it.

My GSR dash cracked near the window and the dealer replaced the whole dash. Did a perfect job.

He has driven 21k since then and thus this doesn't apply anymore.

My dash cracked, I made a thread about it, they replaced it under warranty, the crack has not reappeared since then (50k miles).

I don't have a crack in mine, but the dash has seperated from the plastic vent cover and now it creaks and makes noise all the time. Looks like the gap is twice as big now as it was when I bought the car months ago. When I had my car in for repair recently the body shop guy told me that it was probably due to the dash warping from the intense heat in the summer time here in Arizona. Maybe your cracking has to do with warping from the intense cold of MN winters? Not sure if it was just BS he was telling me, but problems with the dash in our cars seems to come up a lot on here. Sucks.

i have a 51% titanium tint covering my entire winshield. i did this to protect the interior (black) and to minimize interior heat. you can barely tell it's there (it is illegal in Florida).

51% on the winshield, 35% all around.

Interesting. I always put up a sunshield in the summer time and the car has tints, plus being paranoid about the interior fading I usually park facing away from the sun. I'm thinking its just a lame excuse to tell you the truth because it didn't seem to start happening until about a month ago and it's been cold for Arizona lately.

If they don't replace it for you (which is bullshit) this is the cheapest listing I found.

Dashboard:

My dash has the same separation (right above the center vents), but it's only about 1/8 -1/4 inch and we don't get that hot up here.
It's been there since I bought the car as well.

Yup, that's the same thing going on with mine. It's only about a 1/4" on mine, too, but definitely wider than when I first got the car. If I look into the gap I can see what looks to be a yellow clip or something that maybe came loose? Or I guess it could be a ripped off piece of plastic? Not sure. I'm going to see how much it would be to fix it next time I go in to get my oil changed.

try a different dealer, but yeah, if they patched it the furst time, seems like the wrong thing to do. they should have replaced it since a patch is already a temporary thing...

Sorry guys it took so long to reply. Yeah I agree, its worthless w/out pics... Unfortunetly I cannot take pic of the cracked dash because it has already been fixed and going to pick up tommarow. But I will be more than glad to post of the shitty patching job they probably did the 2nd time.. Either way im somewhat happy they decided to patch it up and least do something other than walk me, but that was after I had to get really upset with service guy, proofing him that hes a dumbass with retarded excuses. Im a huge fan of Acura and hope they dont assume that we as the consumers would buy his kind of bullshit from such dealership.

But damn, while I was waiting I lookd at the new TL S and man they are too sweet 3.5v6.. Love the exhaust

Patching is not the correct way to fix that. Or ANY crack on an interior panel or seat. Replacement is needed. I'd call Acura & complain. Since this is the 2nd time it's been done.
