damn road lamps!

So I got my fog light switch installed today and damn our road lamps blow ass. I didn't realize how useless they are untill I saw them without the HIDs. Isn't there something we can do to make them more powerful with out changing the casing?

try going to GE halogen 2040 bulbs...they're as small as the stock lamps and have almost the same size wedge connector (you need to bend the pins out a little to contact the terminals in the connector piece.

they're smaller and aren't as hot, that's why there's no ceramic casing like regular halogens have.

are the fogs on the TL-S going to be any better? Maybe there's a potential swap there?

Do you have any pictures with these installed? Also, where did you get them?

got them at Wal-Mart at 2am!

i was just checking stuff out at walmart when i saw these bulbs, so i compared the size of the connector to the wedge ones and they looked almost the same (the 5w are 2mm (that's 1/16" to you US folks) wider, that's why you have you spread the pins a bit).

still haven't determined if they are too hot yet, but i don't htink so 'cuz as i stated before, they are smaller than the halogens i had before so they are further from the housing and there's no ceramic casing around the wedge part.

no pics, but they are similar to the raybrigs i had (i don't have the pics of my comparo, i lost them somewhere but will post when i find).

scratch that idea of those halogens...i just realized that they are just as bright as the 16w i have installed right now, BUT there a little dimmer up close 'cuz the bulb is so much shorter and there's also that black tip.

i'm gonna return my bulbs (they were $5 each).

Toker,

Hey, did you get that switch just to turn your road lamps on? I thought you were installing real fog lights. That's what i'm gonna do when i figure out how to make it fit nicely. I've already rewired it so that the road lamps come on with the parking lights, i could have told you that they really suck even with the PIAA bulbs. Anyways, did you intall the switch yourself or did you have it done. I'm currently looking for some nice "real" fog lights to add on to or replace the road lamps, any suggestions? BYW did u get the inspire or did you get them at Acura fromt he MDX?

-Hey, did you get that switch just to turn your road lamps on?

I got the switch becuase I wanted to have control over my fog lights and for now the road lamps. I have yet to see a set of fog lights that will look good down there.

I installed it my self. I went ahead and rewired the power for the road lamps so it will be all set when I get real fog lights.

Let me know if you find some.

sweet fogs!! the round lights might look good in the bumper housing
don't forget to share the pix when you get them installed! of course, they will put you over the edge & into that 'non-stock doin it my way' category--you are fast becoming the 'mod-king' to represent H-town--go man go !! (and thanks for being the guinea pig)

right now, i'm workin the polarg's but they just don't look right--too 'blue' i'll give them away to someone on the board when i get something else-gotta keep things semi-stock tho since i'm doin that lease thing

Around the galleria alot. I live off of Bering between San Felipe and Westhimer. I work on Yorktown which is a couple blocks away in the Marathon Oil Tower so I don't drive much. I will keep my eyes open. You will know its me though becuase I will have my road lamps on during the day without the HIDs.
