Damn Houston's freeway speed limit dropping to 55mph

I don't know if anyone in Houston cares or not, but it looks like we can expect the freeway speed limits in Houston to drop to 55mph by May. All due to EPA clean air \ emissions concerns. This seriously sucks

Anyone have any opinions on this? I don't necessarily have a lead foot, but then again I don't feather my throttle either

Wow, that's kind of surprising that that happened in TEXAS??? Not exactly a hotbed of environmentalism. But maybe it has something to do with the fact that I've been reading that Houston has surpassed LA as having the worst air quality in the country?

Yea, this is meant to increase air quality. It will not work, but rather increase traffic congestion and possibly pollution. The speed limit was 60 inside the loop anyway. People won't go 55.

That sucks. No more cruising at 80 down the Katy Freeway in rush hour.

Well i think i've heard that news..... but you know, texans or cowboys never drive that slow..... before the speed limit was 70, most people in houston drove 75+, when speed limit was up to 70, people drove 85+.... so I do not think it does make a different how people drive, BUT just another excuse for cops to buy a bunch of do-nuts to eat on the side of the freeway and trap you!

Slowing people down and creating more traffic jams, yeah that will help the air quality !!

If y'all can recall it was 55mph before they raised it up to 70mph. I'm gonna have to get rid of the CL-S and get an Insight or something, otherwise, my paychecks would have one purpose, paying for tickets.

In NOVA its all 55mph but everyone drives 80mph so cops can just basically pull over anyone. Did I meantion no radardetectors?

VA is a commi state.

fukking sucks. of course with traffic the way it is most of the time, it really doesn't matter.

some advice: take it easy over the 'hills' and long turns, watch other people's taillites, pay attention to the median widths, and most of all...watch your six

good luck gentlemen.

Yeah, what he said!!! People will not drive any slower. HPD will just issue more speeding tickets. They don't know how to catch real criminals.
