Just my opinion, but since you said you know the guys at the body shop I would have them “find” some more damage so the cost gets pushed closer to 20K and considered TOTALED.
I really don’t think that car will EVER be the same.

absolutely agreed, a job like this, no matter how good the shop may be, is going to SURELY sacrafice alot of structural integrity...it will probably rattle more and feel wobbley and loose...i would somehow try to insist that it should be totalled out, thats not just a little fender bender...the whole frigging 1/3 of the car is SAWED OFF!!

About it being the same i have seen some really bad vehicles come back new!! I think it will be fine. I had a 92 Z28 with 12'000 dollars of damage in 92 :eek that came back perfect. Kept if for a long time and not a single squeek. It depends on the shop. Since these people know him they will probably do a great job. Stop scaring the man!

Now that's what I call a weight reduction! Why don't you take it to the track before the qp's go back on.

i agree.

my TL was damaged alot more then this, i was hit in the rear end by a woman flying down the free way and pushed into the cars in front of me, the worst was the 3 cars in front already crashed into each other so there was no give, i was bumper to bumper to begin with.

was over 20k in damage but because the car was less then a month old they wouldnt total it.

the car came back pretty good even tho the shop sucked... ithe only thing i was unpleased about was the paint job.

regardless, that car had more damage and the only thing that was different afterwards was my mental image of it.

my red CL, that accident was the best thing that ever happened to it, it came back 110x better then new.

so hey, yea nevber know. hes got a good shop

I think they should finish the bodywork and weld in a custom roll cage and then go full race. Sell off all interior parts for money to put into the engine. With just the interior gone, you should be in the low 13's. Build up the motor and you could have the first CL in the 11's.

OR

You could get it fixed like new, and trade it in on a 6spd

Eiterway, I definately don't think the car will ever be the same, there are just too many new welds in there.

That is how you look after getting your ass chewed off by your boss!

Damn, They should total it out, I mean, if they don't, suggest they drive that shit for a few onths, they'll change their minds and company policy. BTW, Which insurance cheapskate company you have? They should just buy you a new car.

How will all that damage affect the safety of the vehicle if it gets rear ended in the future?

Plus it will be considered a reconstructed vehicle with frame damage and take a financial hit on a resale or trade.
I hope your insurance company is figuring this loss in value into the numbers when they go after the person who hit you.
