That is what the sportshift is for! Depending on how fast I am going, you can even click down to 3 and really get some power. Don't worry about hurting the car, sportshift is smart enough that it doesn't let you get into a gear that is going to redline the engine and/or hurt the car. Have fun playing!!! Once you get really close to redline just click up a gear!

Just wondering what you thought the purpose of the sportshift slots on the left of the automatic transmission might be if not to upshift or downshift manually? I recommend that you read your owners manual since there must be numerous features you're not familiar with including safety features.
You should also read the Chodthewacko's faq to gain knowledge about your car: Do a search!

Why not just floor the accelerator pedal?

Thank you!! I was trying to be nice in my post above but the person that posted the initial message is either to afraid to use the sportshift (why?) or we all misunderstood the question (doubtful).

Hey, I have had my car for over 5 months now and I just realized that there was a luggage hook above the drivers side pie shaped side window! You need to click it to get it to flip out. Haven't needed it yet but I learned about it from the MANUAL!!! We are all learning things little by little!!!

In an automatic, even with sports shift. Atleast on our cars it is basically idiotproof, even if u want to redline it wont let u get past a certain point to fuck up the car, it will stop ur accelerating though.

I don't even screw with SS anymore. I gate shift when merging and especially when racing. That couldn't have anything to do with the impending death of tranny # 2...naaaahhhh.
