i was driving at 30mph, in D5 i floored it, does it downshift at 30 in d5??? because i really didnt feel it down shift? the car just turned 550 miles so i just wanted to get on it once, so my question is does it down shift or stays in gear and just picks up speed???? just curious i dont wanna beat on the car YET lol... thanks in advance!!!!

 

It should definitely downshift, and if you "floored it" like you said at 30mph, then it would probably downshift to 2nd.

Sounds like it didn't downshift, cause you would certainly feel a downshift to 2nd or 3rd. Try flooring it again at 35-40 mph, and if it doesn't downshift into second, you have a problem. Have it checked out.

 

SO AT 30MPH IN D5 IS IT SUPPOSED TO DOWNSHIFT

 

Let me clear this up. If your in D5 driving along at 30 mph. most likely you were in 3rd gear, when you "floored" it, it would down shift to "1st" and blow up to 40, then to second and so on. If it didn't, try it again. If you don't "hear it and feel it" something is wrong with your car.....

 

try a 25 mph roll in d5, it should go to 1st and redline quickly then on to 2nd

 

thanks guys i just dont know the way the tranny shifts yet ill try 25 but at 30 in your cars does it noticably down shift

 

mine will pause a bit and then downshift to the appropriate gear. it does it, but too slow. i just go into sport shift and do it myself, that way your able to redline each gear and therefor accelerate faster.

 

Acuraman: Gateshifting is faster than SS......no pun intended....

 

thats true, but im not that experienced with shifting myself (im lazy, just keep it in d5) so i wouldent wanna gateshift to d3 adn redline it to 7000 (in my cl-p) and damage/blow my engine. the ss keeps me from messing up. also, from a stop i always miss gear 3 because of the was its setup(goin from d2 to d4). gateshifting is faster, but ss is safer for my slow mind.

 

You will hit the "rev limiter" in either case, SS or gate shifting. When you hit the rev. limiter, it cut the gas off to the engine, thus preventing engine damage, so they say........The tranny is a different story all together..........

 

my car down shifts strong at like 20mph or 25 30 i really dont feel it downshilt this normal right
