D4, D5, or SS?

I was just curious.....

For those of us without a 6-speed, which mode do you drive in most often? D4, D5, or the super-shift mode?

Yeah, I used to do that, but it got expesive cause I was always "rowing" the gears-eats up a lot of gas!

I used to keep it is D4 when i first got it, but found that i got better gas mileage in the city when i kept it in D5(i think). I use the SS once in a while, but its not the same as a manual. so for the most part, D5.

if you're just cruising you should be using D5 to save gas.

Gate shift only baby..

40,000 miles, driven aggressively and original trans with extremely firm shifting.

my brother and i noticed a feelign of a 6th gear while in sport shift, unless the display doesnt exactly say the right gear. while in 5th with SS after releasing the gas you feel a little slight gear change, i doubt its anything but it deffinitely feels liek a gear change while it stays in 5th

Always D5, usually because I'm lazy. SS when I'm feeling a little upbeat.

you can shift in to 5th gear using sportshift, which i do when necessary.

i get pretty good mileage too. i got 340 miles (pre-gas light) out of the tank i burned during the WC meet.

SS -- saving the tranny. Old news...

SS.

If you use it to change gears all the time, count of having your gearbox wear out quickly.

If you use it to MINIMIZE the number of gear shifts, count on it to help save your clutch packs. The less you use them, the less wear there is on them.

This is not a fix for the tranny problems However, the clutch packs see wear during gear changes. If you use SS to reduce the number of gear changes, you are going to help with wear.

D4 and SS will reduce mileage, but can also help to reduce tranny shifts are wear at the expense of gas mileage.

If you use SS to do nasty engine braking, count on having more wear.

YMMV

lol thats not 6th .......... thats our torque converter clutch locking up to reduce revs. happens in 4th also, and 3rd if I'm not mistaken.

Used D4 and D5 on the first tranny.

SS now.

Does the transmission/torque converter function any different in SS? Maybe I'm just use to D5.

Using SS exclusively helps the tranny live longer...right?
