Cutting a coil from the rear Comptech springs?

I have Comptech Sport springs and i think my back sits up way to high. On the front you can tell its dropped. But on the back, i question it. So if i cut a coil from each of the back springs would it do any harm? How much could it drop? thanks in advance.

All I know it that I heard you should never cut coils on springs.

But there are always people who do whatever they want anyways, so...

Don't know. I have the H&R springs and the drop is comparible to that of the Comptechs, they give a more even drop instead of the raked look of the Comptechs.

I don't like the rake look, id rather have an even drop. i wouldn't have even gotten the comptech springs but i got them for $100 bucks from a buddy of mine who got rid of his CLS. They had like 6k miles on them.

You may cut your springs with absolutely NO harm. I rolled on cut springs for just about 4 months without a problem at all. You just have to seat your spings nicely when you lower the car down for the first time (common with many lowering springs) and make sure you trim down your bump stop as well.

First off ALL springs are cut..it's not dangerous...IF you know what you're doing....but i do have a far better soloution for you...there's a guy on this board thats looking to get comptech rears...he has H&R O.E. the rear springs drop closer to 1.5, anyway you should swap him and you'll both be happy...you'll get 1.5 even all four corners and he'll 1.0 cant remeber his user name but ill find it

Two words: Don't cut!!

Back in the days before they manufactured all these kits, we used to cut coils to drop our cars. The problem comes when selecting a method of "cutting".

Some guys used the "torch" which weakened the hardened steel and when they reinstalled them, surprise surprise! at the first good bump, the spring compressed and thats where it stayed if it did not shatter first.

Second method is the carbide steel or diamond cutter saw. Same principle applies, high heat= weakened steel! this worked ok if you went real slow and keep the coil from heating up past yeild.

Just some info to knaw on.
Say yourself the headaches and $$$$
