custom ipod mount in notepad holder

i finally finished up my installation of my ipod in the notepad holder. it was really easy to do but you have to buy a new dock and a car charger for the ipod. the only hard part was making sure the sliding mechanism still worked but even that was solved pretty easily using a ziptie.

here are some pics...i don't kno how to post em into the thing so whatever...if one of you want to go ahead

Looks good, but what did you do with the cabels?
Are you using a Blitzsafe?
Are you using a car charger as well?

Are you using an FM transmitter with that? If so, which one and how's the sound quality?

yea...i'm using a blitzsafe adaptor...i have the audio cable run up behind the headunit into the notepad holder (cut a piece out of it) and i plug a car charger into the dock so whenever the car is on i'm charging the ipod. the charger cable is plugged into the outlet in the glove compartment (you just stretch the cord out) and it runs underneath the console and up behind the headunit. i zip tied both cables right on the inside of the notch i cut in the notepad so the wires didn't get tangled behind the holder.

One more question for ya...Are you using the audio out on tha back of the dock?

If so are you just using an 1/8 to RCA connection to plug into the Blitz?

i've gotten a couple pm's about this so here are some more pics

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4286639979

basically i'm using the audio out from the dock (that way you control the volume from the headunit only, the volume on the ipod doesn't matter) with one of those headphone to rca jacks (i guess that's a 1/8)...it splits into 2 rca jacks and goes into the blitzsafe.

as you can see it looks kinda ghetto but you can't see any of it when the dock is in there, only if you pull it all out

i used a rotary tool to cut the 2 front pieces that hold a pen...i pretty much just eyeballed it...

you should save these pieces to glue down so that your ipod dock doesn't move around

the hole i cut out behind the dock is so that the audio out jack and the charger wires can lay flat in the notepad holder so that it can still slide

the hole in the back is obviously for the wire...the 2nd hole on the left was a mistake, but whatever no one is ever going to see that either....

overall it really only took a couple hours to do...it's really not hard at all and it works great for anyone who has an ipod....

if you have any other questions feel free to ask
