Custom intake questions

I have an 03 CL type S and it has the faux air dam instead of fog lights. I was wondering what's behind the air dam On the drivers side cuz I wanted to know before I take the bumper off. I was wondering if it was possible to make a custOm CAI/ Ram air intake using the air dam. Cuz if you could run pipe to the air dam and make the 1 functioning it would probably run mean. Has anyone tried it? I'm not to familiar with this car that's y I'm asking before I dismantle everything to see if it's possible. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated

I cut out the back section of the vent and put metal mesh there. My comptech icebox tubing goes right up to the back of the vent. Its not something powerwise that you would notice. Only thing I notice is more bugs get trapped in the vent on that side as opposed to passenger side.

I actually want to make a custom intake with 3.5 or 4 inch tubing.

get a generic intercooler pipe kit off ebay and a k&n.
you'll have about 130-150 into it and you can run it all the way down to right behind where you want.

i would like to do a 3.5", but i havent found that big of piping.

I just drilled out the plastic in the back part, which opened it up. When you look in the hole, you can see the K&N filter on the lower end of the CAI. Cool air is being fed right to the system.

You guys that cut out your fog light blank on the backside isn't rain water going right into your air filter if it's directly behind it?

lol just imagine a car driving by splashing a huge puddle all over ur ride... that'd mess something up with that ram induction process i'm sure. unless something is done to let the water fall/drain out as it gets sucked through.

For mine, the comptech filter is not at the end. The tube connects to filter box, which has filter inside.

I would think you'd be fine as long as you don't drive thru a foot or more of water.

Dont drive through deep puddles = no problems.

Ive had the holes drilled out of the insert for over two years. First with the Icebox and then with my whale penis intake. No issues thus far. Then again, I clean the filter twice a year or so.
