Cupholder pix
Well, here are the pics you asked for. Notice the tabs on the front of the new cupholder. New vs old:
New:
Old:
On my car, there are no holes for those tabs to go into. Somewhere around mid summer, they changed production to the new.

So I'm guessing that the new one will not fit in place of the old. Is this true?

The new one is about $8 or so and it fits but if you put a big Dunkin' Donuts coffee in it, it will pull out with the cup. Anything else is okay. The two tabs on the front are supposed to fit into some kind of slot in the newer CL's. Perhaps some of you newer owners could confirm this. Mine does not have slots for the tabs to fit in. I do remember that Athena_CL_S (?) bought a new one and it fit perfectly in hers. Even though it does not fit perfectly for me, it is far better than the original. Stuff would tip either way with the old one.

My CL-s was built in July, and had the extra holes for the tabs.
The new cupholder ran about $6 from the dealer.
Holds a large size drink no problems. Holds a water bottle without tipping. The holder is in solid, no way to casually pull it out.

You might have the new cupholder, but do you have the secret glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release switch in case you get stuck in the trunk?

The cars with the tab slits are fem? Assuming that one has a slitless car, do you think that the male parts (tabs) can be chopped off the holder?

I thought when six was bithcing about the cup holders...I thought he was bitching about the new one....hehehe...I got mine in November...so, I never had an old one...In fact, I thought the new ones (the one that I have) are pretty nifty...I can fit a 20oz bottle of coke...or a 12oz cup....WITH A LID!!! To minimize spillage...

If I remember right, its the same part number, they just don't make the old style any more. When I ordered mine, the parts guy just called acura directly for the number, as it wasn't in the catalog yet.

Mine has the new cupholder but there are no slots for those hooks to go into, just the big opening leading into the console storage box. However, I also have this square plastic tab/plate that hooks onto the hooks and you can swing it flat against the bottom of the cupholder or you could slot it into tracks on the inside walls of the console. Neither way seems to secure the cupholder any better though.
