I was looking at my cup holders compared to the 2002...they look exactly the same..is the "new" cupholders supposed to have little clips to hold the drink?

The NEW cupholder you are refering to is in the later 2001's. It was the first 2001's that had the "useless" cupholder. Acura fixed it in the middle of the 2001 run of CL's. I don't think there is a difference in the NEW cupholder in the 2001 and the 2002 one! I am pretty sure this is what you are refering to. I might be wrong so don't hate me Here is a pic of the OLD 2001 cupholder on the left and the NEW 2001 cupholder on the right. Hope this is what you were asking about

For the record: I took the picture at our Sacramento meet last September. The right hand (on the left) is Red Rider; the hairy left hand (on the right ) is P1mpd@ddy.

Below is another anatomically incorrect picture which contrasts the old and new cupholder. Pay no attention to the apparent soda stain on the right cupholder... :P
