Yeah but as long as you can drill a straight hole there's nothing to it. And it's not like a BIG hole or something. It's a little hole in a flat piece of metal. So there's no worry about strength.

Really, the drilling will take you 30 seconds or less, it's no big deal.

just bringing this back so that there is an answer; the comptech SS for the TL attaches to the base of the shift lever (they are not the same in the new TL's as our cars; one linkage goes to the bottom of the lever where the comptech SS attaches to), so no, it would not fit. but actually it acts in a similar way to the neuspeed that we have already.

^ do you think it can be modified to work with the same or less effort as the neuspeed?

i've been looking for a tl ss in the bm to mess around.

no it will not work on our cars, period. on our CL, there are 2 linkages. 1 attaches to the lever and 1 to that selector thing on the left of the lever. on the TL, one attaches to a selector on the right, and then one to the base of the lever. so when i said that the CT is similar to our neuspeed, it's because it's not a true short shifter, it just changes the angle that the linkages are connected to the lever; the neuspeed moves ours higher, the CT moves theirs lower.

I thought I confirmed it will not fit in another thread? Or maybe I did the research & never posted about it?
But yeah linkage is different & it won't fit.

I have used the Neuspeed short shifter for almost 3 years and I wish I hadn't waited so long. I was afriad of this 'notchiness' I read about but I don't have anything like that. This should be the #1 mod for those of us lucky enough to drive a 6 speed. You can see I also replaced my shift knob with a Momo boot and knob and that helped tons as well. The 'stock' knob is a Momo but too tall for me.

From the parts list & pic it looks like you could buy all the TL parts & swap them to the CL. I'm sure not everything would bolt right in though. Some modding may be necessary.

Of all the TLs I drove I always found the shifter mushy a little and somewhat removed from the car as opposed to my CL which feels 'mechanical.'

Maybe it was the drive by wire system & not the stick?
I know when I tested the TL it was a weird feeling with the DBW system.

They have the ONLY one. And it's not even a true kit. It's just a bracket that forces the linkage higher up the shift rod to decrease the amount of throw.

Not notchy for me. You cut the top off? Did it make a big difference? I just put on a shorter knob... was too afraid to cut the steel!

I just used artb's pic on BM. cause I dont have that pic.

I cut 1" between those line. I think little over 1". and yeah there's difference. I used to have tsx knob. but Its too small. so I replaced w/TLs knob. feel much better. now I just got stock knob on it. It feels really comfortable. Even w/stock knob on it u can see its pretty short. and looks much better than loooong rod.

i ended up cutting 1/2" off the top and with the tl knob it sits at the perfect height. it prob sits 1.5" lower than stock.

Same here. Do the Neuspeed short throw shifter kit and get the solid shifter bushings at the same time. You'll have a more positive shift and get rid of some slop.
