Ct S/c?

Already have CT intake and headers and love how much they improved the power, beside not hurting gas mileage.

I'm considering the S/C so I have several questions if you guys don't mind:

1) If I were to install the CT S/C, what type of gas mileage could I expect for normal driving?

2) Would the CT S/C cut the engine life in half?

3) How many miles does the CT S/C last or how much maintenance does it require?

4) What other type of parts (manual tranny, clutch, motor mounts, etc...) would see excessive wear because of the S/C?

5) Is it really worth the $$$?

6) Here's a performance question -- anyone running CT intake/header/exhaust/SC and what times in 0-60 and 1/4 mile do you see?

thanks for your answers in advance.

I believe that the s/c kit is maintenance free. I have heard that after you put about 100,000 miles on the supercharger you may need to replace the blower. It is my understanding that this is just the part with the blades and bearings. About a $1000 part and you should be good for another 100,000 miles. You would probably want to replace the belts regularly too. Force feeding will reduce the lifespan of any engine. With the comptech supercharger I would expect any effects to be a very small because the boost is so low. I have heard that the piston rings will go first if anything will just wear out and these can be replaced. I think this would not happen for many miles though. I have little experience with this product but if you love reliable performance in large quanities the comptech will probably be a big hit with you. I am asuming you are talking about an s/c'er for the 6-speeder. The auto would probably have even less weare since it makes less power than the 6-speed. Someone with more knowledge needs to reply to this because I am curious as well.

Hope this helps some,

Jim

Call Dean and ask him anything you want about the S/C. His shop specializes in them and he is a Comptech dealer.

My gas mileage has taken a hit, especially this weekend running the twisties and running to redline in 2 and 3. Up until the weekend i would say it's gonna cost me 2 mpg at least in everyday driving, probably close to 5mpg thanks to the twisties. Still worth it though.
