crx engine
my bro has a 91 crx. his engine blew a cylinder and now it guzzles gas and won't pass smog. where can he buy an engine for it? or what kind of engine can he fit in there? like and si or integra engine. he's gonna buy a new car next year, and he doesn't mod out his car so nothing really expensive. i know all you guys know the names and model numbers of honda engines.

depending on how much you call expensive. i don't know if this will work but if you can find a wrecked older Prelude Si(the old 2.0 Liters) but if you can find a 1994-1997 Accord wrecked in the side, backend (as long it wasn't hit in the front end) the H22 motor is a good motor, if he decided to keep it there's a zillion performance mods for it. Plus there is a bunch of these Accords out there so if he needs a "donor motor" the odds of finding these are good
only thing is I've never heard of this swap but I know you'll have to have custom Motor mounts and you might(depending on the space under the hood) have to cut your firewall.
This might sound like a wild swap(it might be expensive though) how bout a Type R motor.

The H22A is heavy as fuck! That shit will look like a hot wheels car with the rear end hiked way up in the air because the front end will be paving asphalt! He'd have to rebuild his entire front suspension! Not to mention torque steer out the ass!

I heard, correct me if I'm wrong, if you drop in a H22A in a CRX that it will be a 12sec car. Is that true?

Re: Re: Re: crx engine
The H22A (prelude)engine is the way to go if you want torque, and the B16C5R(integra type r) is the way if you want more hp at higher rmp. Either way with the different engines you have to spend at least 4k in mods for engine mounts, bushings, etc. I would personally recoment that you get the same engine it came with or at least an engine that uses the same engine mounts and the tranny matches. go to this site:

Thats all new race material. You should only spend 800 and below for a used engine, if you but the same exact engine, then its cheaper because he can use the same parts.Later guys...

If he doesnt want to spend too much money.. Go with a ZC motor from japan. At the most its like $600 it drops right into a CRX si. bolts right up to stock trans. O yeah you do have to splice the cam sensor wire... Any other motor swaps your going to get into changing and modding lots of stuff.
zc is 130 hp dohc non-vtech
108lbs ft of torque
I had one built all motor running 13.70's
