Crushed by a senior citizen

About two months after I got my CL-S, I pulled up to stop light on one of the main drags through town. An older gentleman (65+) pulls up with his wife in a late model (not '03) 740il. Both the driver and his wife look over and give a "wanna go" look. I turn to my brother in the passanger seat and figure that there is no way that this old guy is going to race me. Just in case, I dropped into SS and killed the VSA.
When the light truned green, he took off like a bat out hell! Dude completely crushed me from the line all the way down to the next light (got to about 80 mph)!!. He and his wife just looked over an smiled.

Now, I realize the 740il can eat a cl - I just didn't expect a guy as old as my grandfather to be the driver!

Good to see that there is life after 60+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds funny. i'm thinking about one of those tv commericals where a silver haired grandma got into a new car and give you the "wanna go?" look. it's just too funny.

A 740iL shouldn't be able to crush a CL... Not sure what happened there.

It supposedly does 15.2 in the 1/4.

The CL should at least be dead even... Are you sure it wasn't a 750???

My broker has a blue 740iL and always says that I need to move up to the big boy toys. So with that in mind, we ran a couple stoplight races on penn ave, coming from DC and each time I won. Trust me he has more respect for my car. He used to think like everyone else "I have a V8 you have a v6, there is no way you can beat me.".....Until I did! If you would have seen his face is was more like

I was late on the drop (lulled into a false sense of security by the advanced age of my competition) - Late or not, the Bimmer was fast. However, given the responses above, I want a rematch!!!!!

Haus: Did you ever check your Actuator to see if it's working. An Accord keeping up with you and losing to a 740iL, it seems that your car isn't running at full power.

Just a thought, although I am sure there are some pretty fast Accords out there

I beat a 740 one night while cruising. We raced about 4 lights in a row, only til about 60 with me winning easily every time. Light to light racing with a CL-S vs. 740 should be an easy win for a CL-S.

The old 7 isnt a stop light performance car. It weighs 4300 lbs and has a 2.82 final gear ratio. From a roll a 740 will give a modded CL-S a good run. Anything above 80 the CL-S is going down.

If it is broken, print these out and take them to a dealer:
