Crossfire kill
On my way to the track today I was merging onto the highway and a Crossfire passed me going a pretty good rate of speed. So, once I got on the road fully I caught up to see if he wanted to play. There was a couple of cars blocking both lanes, and we were both in the fast lane. As soon as the semi moved to the right it was wide open for at least a mile or two. I knew he was probably gonna gun it once it got open to try to lose me, and I was ready for it. We were already going 85mph, so I opted for 4th. I was obviously faster than him because I had to go around him once I floored it. I topped out 4th and by the time I let off he was a good 6-7 cars back, if not more.
We caught a tiny bit of traffic a mile or so up, and again it cleared wide open. I decided to really put the hurting on, so at 80mph I went to 3rd and held it WOT until 5th wouldnt go any faster. Of course I put a bus length or two on him by the time I was done with 4th, but after that I didnt pull anymore. He stayed the same distance behind until I let off to exit.
Saw him at a light and I asked auto or manual and it was a bone stock automatic. He said 'supercharged, right?', and I surprised with him 'nope, bone stock + intake'. He looked surpised, but gave me props and we went on our way.
15 mins later I pulled into the track, and saw him there. He was getting baseline runs before a SC install this summer. He ran a best of 15.3 @ 94mph last I talked to him.
So, here's a
to Acura's wonderful gearing. Not falling out of VTEC after 20mph = ![Bow](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/bow.gif)
And I know high speeds are dangerous, but it was not windy, road was about as straight as could be, and it was a country expressway with barely any traffic.

Well thats not really true. First off the Crossfire drivetrain is ALL Mercedes (older gen SLK), and there are people running 11's on stock SRT-4 trannies. However, the fwd auto trannies do blow ass, thats for sure.

says "hello to my TLX".
right on joe! i'm guessing you pulled on him like that using 4th since the 6mt must have a better pull in all gears as to hitting a wall or much less acceleration once we A/T's get to 4th. sounds like got the engine before going to the track. was this the time that you had your best run?

DC tranny's have been fine since about 2000. The gearing in them do suck though.
