Cooling Fan for CAI Wheel Well ??

I'm considering mounting a 12V fan to the left wheel well protector to pull in cold air while at low speed or idle; Radio shack has various 12V fans that should work well for this. Most of the look splash-prrof, but not water-proof. I would pull power in parallel from the radiator fans, which only run when the engine needs it. An alternate would be to install a separate air thermostat, but this gets a little more tricky. I figure this should keep air temp down for off-the-line acceleration.

Any thoughts out there? Anybody ever tried this? Might be good for city driving.

There no point... Honestly you would be much better off making some sort of ram air but its not worth it for 1hp dude. I know one of my friends tried a dry ice experimental intake on a firebird WS6 one time and they gained 23whp but they said once you went lower than a certain temperature it lost hp. In any case, there isnt a point with our cars for a fan, because you would rob some voltage plus you wont gain much power. Good thinking though...

Was thinking about this over the weekend, and saw on TV during Bristol race a description of how NASCAR cools the brake rotors by using fans to drive air over the rotors constantly. You would think 180mph air would be enough without an electric fan. Wonder what cfpm those fans run?

I think those are fins to direct the air onto the rotors....

I am slow at times, but the cutaway of the stock car (TBS coverage of the Bristol, TN Nextel race) showed ducted fans and an electric blower using tubes similar to dryer vents running to several points on the rotors, which actually reach cherry red temperatures and sometimes literally explode during a race (saw one come apart on TV during Watkins Glen).

It may be the fans are for caution laps and pit stops when the air stream would be insufficient to cool the rotors.

I'm sure they use fins as well for high speeds.
