Coolant drain

Hey guys...sorry for the stupid question,
But i'm about to install Icebox my self, and on the instruction, at the end, i have to drain and refill the colant. Is this necessary?...or can i just add the coolant at the end (without draining the existing coolant)?

Thanks in advance for the help

I am curious as well as I just ordered this thing. do you have to bleed it after you fill it and how if you do? the coolant bleed screw was on the back of the block on my four banger accord. I dont know where it is on our block. I'd love to know.

Yes unless you want to introduce air into you system. Not very good for the car.

You must BLEED the coolant, not drain it.

To bleed, start the car with the radiator cap off. Idle until normal temp, open the heater full blast to open the heater core. Coolant level will now fall. Squeeze all your tubes leading to the radiator and watch as bubbles come out. Keep doing so until no more come out. Top off coolant, shut off car, recap.

sounds pretty simple....thanks Nitequill....just one more thing, In the Helm's manual, the bleeding procedure seems more complicated (you have to open the bleed screw, then put rubber hose on another bleed screw, and open that screw, etc....

Just wantted to be sure that your method is just another way (easier i might say) to do this...
Thanks

Why would you need to do your coolant for a cold air intake? I'm getting one next month and didn't know you had to do this.

Your only disconencting a small coolant line. It's not a major line. You will loose a few teaspoons of coolant if even that much. Put the ice box in & connect the coolant line back. The bleeding procedure isn't a big deal for this type of thing. Just run the engine with tha cap off as stated, then add a little coolant, then run it to hot. Let it cool off & check the coolant again & add some more if needed.
Really it's not big deal. And you may not even have to bleed it all.

you do not need to drain the coolant for installing an icebox. that is total overkill.
