Conversion for a CL-p to a Cl-s

i called the dealership and they told me it wasnt possible to drop a type-S engine into a Premium model I think he was just BSing me so i wanted to know if anyone had done this or if it is possible at all cos i will be intereted in doing that.

I want more power from my car and i dont want to trade it in cos u never know what u will get plus i can just pick up a wrecked type s and swap the engine from the junk yard for a cheap price.

it's not just the engine that makes it Type-S... starting from stock tires to suspension is ALL different.. if you are planning on swapping everything to make it 'legit' type-s, best to just trade it in!!

I would trade it in for a Type S rather than go through the work of trying to upgrade the parts. There are a lot of differences other than the engine.

Click for CL specs

If you're just looking for more power, why not do some simple mods. Like headers and an intake. I think you can also change the trottle body to a type S TB.

Good luck.

The problem lies in the ECU and VSA system. Re-Wiring would be a bitch!

That's a lot of stuff to do. You would be better off modding it, or trading in for a '03 MT if you can find one.

Dude if all you care about is speed, you can still get type-s numbers from Icebox, Headers, exhaust and pulley. ~255-260hp (give or take).

Header ~+20-25hp
Intake ~+5-8 HP
Pulley ~+ 2-3 HP ?? (not sure)
Exhaust ~+3-5hp (As far as the exhaust goes, CL-P's have more to gain from
adding a free flowing exhaust because our stock ones are very restrictive)

Depending on what brand header you go with, you are looking to spend as little as $700-$800 total for all parts and as much as a couple grand for the good stuff.

There are one or two CL-P's (fully modded) that have beat stock CL-S's. I forget who they were though.

Nothing wrong with that. Why would we "hate" it? It takes you I/H/E/Pulley just to get to where a stock automatic Type-S would be. Meh...

true. trading in is cheaper and more trustworthy. and a trade-in might as well call for a 6-spd.

dont be a hater, i have a CL-P and its still quick and handles great

How do you figure?

1. possible spend <$900 for ~35 Horespower
2. lose money on trade in at dealer, get into a 6Speed at ~$20,000 for 35 Horsepower.

Now Yes 6Speed > Auto but this kid seems like he is only interested in being as fast as a typeS.

No CL-P is going to be as fast as a stock CL-S6. Even an automatic CL-S with I/H/E is going to just barely keep up with a stock CL-S6.

OK true.

But IMO I don't think getting into a CL6 is worth it for him. especially when he can get some decent increases for relatively little money.

if you want more power from your cl-p, just go with the basic bolt on mods such as headers, intake, and exhaust. This should give you a pretty good boost
