2001 CL, dreaded trans issues. I'm tentatively looking at tossing a used in, even if only for a month or two, while I rebuild the burned out one. Now, I have a line on a 2007 Odyssey transmission for cheap, I've seen the transmission run. I've researched, searched forums, but, I'm getting conflicting info. Some say its pretty much direct bolt in, minus swapping a few sensors. Some have said they've done it, works fine. Others have said it's not compatible at all. Which I'm inclined to think myself. Starters are different, is the big difference Ive seen.

So, anyone done a replacement with an 07 odyssey trans? Or is it not possible? Can someone give me a direct, straight answer?

Although I'm not sure, the 07 Odyssey transmissions, quite possibly, have a different bellhousing that will not mate to your engine block.
That is why the 05-06 is talked about.
With that said, if possible, go with the BAYA coded 06-07 Accord V6 non-hybrid automatic transmission, (search car-part.com) as outlined on the thread above, for the BEST possible option to resurrect and give further long life to your 01CL.

 

Yes I believe someone said the Oddy EX transmission, not the EX-L transmission should fit. I do recall the 05-06 transmissions were a sure thing, but 07's were hit or miss. Apparently there was a mid-year redesign..?

Otherwise if you would consider a different transmission, I believe a 3rd gen TL transmission bolts up straight. At least that's what I remember from the AV6 thread on the CL forum here:

there's comment that the 2007 oddy trans is of different design. you may want to confirm if it is indeed the 2007 year by getting the trans model number found on the front.

if it looks like this (B36A) , I would think that it won't work..



different size engine, different number of shafts...
