Concern about Pro-kits, calling on Moomaster

Moomaster_99

You're gonna rub...the pro-kits are too soft for the car..ask bobowah...
I think we went through every suspension on his car already...
Whatever you do...don't use the pro-kits...they are made specifically to ride like stock for an Accord v6...which means...softer than a CL-P...and nowhere near the spring tension needed to keep the CL from bottoming.

Ok whats up with this Moo, is this true. Can anyone verify this? Because I have the pro-kits and I deffinetly have my doubts about whethey they should be this way, meaning sitting too low and even prone to buttoming? If this is the case, I think I am gonna try to get them taken out this weekend.

i've seen GCs, H&Rs, Eibach Pro-kits, CTs, and Apex-i suspensions on mine, bobowah's and moomaster's cars. by far the pro-kits sit the lowest in the back. if your gonna stay w/ the stock rims and tires, u might still be ok, but over time, the suspension will drop even lower once the shocks start going out. upsizing to 18s and 19s will definitely rub, even w/ the fenders rolled...

Obviously springs settle and start sagging, but I don't think that the Pro-kits are that bad...

What makes the Comptech's better?

Well, my car does not buttom out, it just seems soft and this makes me worried. It makes me believe that what moo is saying could be factual.

imo not necessarily better, just that the drop isnt as low on the CT springs, so more room to up upsize rims and tires, and no need to roll fenders...

The ride on Pro=kits is pretty tight... I really don't feel anything soft about them..

how is it that other members are riding on the pro-kit with 18" rims and not reporting this?

okay

I have almost every suspension there is for this car

Suspension #1 Stock -> rides luxo... but too high

Suspension #2 Had Ground Controls and Konis on the car.
I did not like them too much b/c they rode really harsh for me.
The handling was amazing, 17x7.5 with 225/45/17 kumhos

Suspension #3 H&R sports and stock shocks... fawker who installed it messed up and front right suspension dropped out and busted my strut hat. but otherwise rode pretty good, 17x7.5 with 225/45/17 kumhos

Suspension #4 Eibach ProKit + Koni Yellows. The ride is good but not as good as the H&Rs... I rub alot with this config. Rubbed with the 17x7.5 with 225/45/17 kumhos. And now with my 18x8 OZ Superleggras 225/45/18 I rub over almost everything. I hit the rear bumper flange. So I've even rolled the rear fenders. Its better but I'm still tearing away at my Bridgestone S03s...

Suspension #5 Apexi coilovers on there way... I'm probably going to rake the car b/c of the rubbing in the rear.

My take on the deal... I should have kept the H&R and konis and probably gotten 225/40/18 instead...

So there...

boboh, which H&R's?

what was the offset on you 17x7.5 rim?

what about your 18x8 whats the offset?

why did u get a 45 series, maybe thats why you were rubbing..

with a 40 series, if the offset was right, you might not have rubbed.

ok i saw in your sig...

so, i read the 45 offset is only good with a 7.5 wheel...u have 8"

also, you have a 45 series tire...

if your rim was 45 offset with 7.5 and a 40 series tire, i dont think you would be rubbing, would you?

amir

if I had a 40 series tire it would be a non issue... I got the recommendation for the tire from Comptech... b/c that what they had on their SEMA car... I forgot though... the Comptech springs are higher in the back... thus my rubbing with the Eibach Prokit... saggy butt springs...

i need your help,

with a

if i do, will it be minimal, therefore fixed with rolling?

42 off-set MIGHT be too low...it helps w/ the 40 series tires tho...i wouldnt roll w/ any passengers in the back tho...

really depends on your wheel...

you need to look at where it sits on the fender

the outer part of the tire on my s03 hit the fender... we rolled all the metal parts of the fender to clear the tire... but I hit the flange that connects the fender to the bumper. You really can't do anything about that...

with the 40 series tire most likely you have more clearance than I will... but the +42 offset might just put the wheel and tire closer to the edge of the fender...

if 45 offset is okay for a 7.5 wheel, why wouldnt a 42 offset be ok for a 7" wheel?

again it really depends on the rim...

the offsets vary from vendor to vendor...

All I can say is try on rim and tire combo... don't buy all four rims.. just get one... and try to work something out with your store..

if you are buying from tim I would not worry too much

but if you can see if you local tire dealer or rice shop can get one rim mounted with tire then see if it fits...

No...accords have the same offset...but they have a lot more play in their wheelwell area...

With the right offset you won't have any rubbing, at any height. Doesn't matter if you have H&Rs, Ground Controls, anything...my car doesn't rub at this height, and the suspension is completely bottomed out....with 19x8" rims 50mm offset. Also, for those of you feeling the suspension bottom out...cut your BUMP STOPS, it'll solve the problem.

Bump stomps have been cut, but I still think the springs are too soft for this car, just like Moo said. These are accords springs. However, eibach site does recommend them for the CL as well.

I agree the right offset is ideal....but look at what kind of rims are available in a 50+ offset...not much of a selection...and IMHO...most of them are that great looking...

I rode around with my stock (soft) CL-P springs sporting 3 coils cut off them. It had a lot of suspension travel, and never bottomed out. The car was tucking rim in the back and nearly as low as I could go in the front and still turn... Perhaps you should cut more bumpstop. I had mine trimmed down to 1/4" and the ride was fine.
