Comtech B-Pipe Status

Last week, I spoke to one of the owners of Comptech. He told me that they have all the parts and are waiting to weld up the b-pipes. He also said they should be ready to ship before the end of this month (Oct.).

I highly recommend that everyone who's waiting for the b-pipe, give Comptech a call to press them into completing the b-pipe this month.

I wouldn't push them too hard, i mean they do make quality products. if we push them they may cut corners or not take as much time as they normally would in development/testing and rush the vendor that will be producing the part just because a few people called in to rush them to make them quicker

Quicker doesn't always mean better.

I'd personally be happy waiting. We've waited this long haven't we.

They've been saying the same thing for months... although they are closer..... and from what I've read the gains will not be that huge unless you're running a F/I setup....

yup, he's right, exhaust upgrade and b-pipe upgrades don't usually provide anything more than 5 hp usually. on highly tuned cars though it's another story. but unfotunately on the cls, the hp gain should be between 3-5 hp for the b-pipe. not much but it's something.

Actually, Comptech told me there may be an approx. gain of 4-6 hp with SC and 2-3 without. This is assuming CT exhaust installed. Since I'm planning on a SC in my future, I'll be installing the b-pipe along with the CT exhaust - hopefully by late this month.

No price yet.

i don't think i'd care about gains. my california car's exhaust is all fucted from the winters it's seen between CA and OH. it'd be worth it to me just to dump the rusted out parts with ss components.

Comptech also said the other reason to add the B-Pipe is to get rid of a resonance when running their exhause system. They were able to design out the drone with their pipe.

I've talked with Comptech a few times over the last couple of months and they keep saying the same thing, It will be out soon.
They take their sweet time in designing products right the first time, so I wouldn't count on a time frame here.
I'll sit and patiently wait.

I don't get it... it costs about $25 for 6' of stainless-steel tubing... maybe another $50 for the bends and another $100 to have it welded etc... voila B-pipe!

This would be the only reason I'd get it. If it is true.

Yep…… It’s gonna be made out of empty toilet paper tubes and two rolls of duck tape.
It’s only 19.95 shipped, but the warranty is only valid for the first 30-seconds after you start the car.

Interesting... I might get it too for that reason. Kinda of annoyed by it though... You'd think that if they admit that droning sound is undesirable, they should give a discount to people who already have their exhaust to take care of the problem.
