im sorry but those prices are ridiculous

couldnt you go to a local speed shop and do the same thing for a lot less

i mean 4 grand for 10-15 horsepower, 5 grand for 25 hp and 6 grand for 40 hp????

i might pay 4 grand for 40 hp but even that is still a little high

Sure you could but you wouldn't have race proven experience and knowledge going into the work. Cripes, if you want quality you NEED to pay for it.

also so if you read closely this will include head work and the numbers are speaking to the B series engines, obviously our engine is gonna see a bigger increase in power than the little 4...just got off the phone with mike B. he refered me to "jonesy" at 916-939-9118 this is one of if not the engine builder so serious inquireies only please...if any of you are in that area im sure they could do the complete tear down and re install....

i agree Zapata, you have to be willing to pay for high quality, but damn...i think sometimes Comptech goes a little overbvoard...shit for 5k you can have a custom turbo made and probably put 200more hp to your car....besides that Comptech does have quality merchandise especially for Acura's....i dont know, like i said before "going fast costs $$$$, how fast you wanna go?"

comptech specializes in NSX motors that pretty much it.

im not saying you should take your car anywhere but a good reputable speed shop should be able to do the same custom work for less.

seriously would you pay 4 grand for 15 hp?

for our cl-s 4 grand can get you either the SC or 3.5L installed and would definetely have more power then 15 hp.

comptech is a great company they can make stuff for cars but these are one of those things you can do somewhere else to get the same result for a lower cost.

True. Sure you could go to a speed shop but I wouldn't want to put my $8k engine in the hands of anybody who i didn't have 100% confidence.

Once you get into extracting/fine tuning extra HP out the cost increases....especially on naturally aspirated engines.

SilverBullet,
You get what you pay for If i had the scratch i'd call up comptech in a heart beat because I know that they do ALL of their work in-house and QUALITY/RELIABILITY is their top goal. If they can fine tune B series and C series engines.........i'm sure my J block won't be an issue.

acctually 4K is what the 3.5 costs installed (if you can still get one) and 15hp is supposed to be the gain...now torque is increased much more than that ,but the 1/4times tell the story, also again, the 15 hp is the quote for the B series engines

I'm not knocking CT, omre power to them. But sorry $1500 per 10hp is a WASTE OF MONEY! NO where near worth the $. Unless your professionally racing the CLS (LoL)

$6000 should get you a 450HP 3.2L or 3.5L. Not a 300hp 3.2L.

LOL, I can buy a complete 450-500hp engine for a Ford or chevy for $4500. (ready to drop in complete)

If you give me $20K, I'll guarantee you'll make 300hp TO THE WHEELS without a S/C, NOS or Turbo.. Naturally Aspirated!!!

$20k, assuming you have some wrench skills...

Buy a Old 5.0 mustang hatchback a crate 500hp stroked 351. near 373 ratio rear end. New tranny, new wheels/tires, paint job.

Easy 11's, with $$ to spare :-D

CAR: $5000
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6236
Car already has a sound system

ENGINE: $7500
http://www.mustangengines.com/396_485_carb.html

REAREND: $1200
http://www.progressiveautomotive.com/rearends.htm

TRANNY: $1600
http://www.fbperformance.com/transmissions/

CUSTOM DRIVESHAFT:
$500

TOTAL= $15,800

Leaving $4200 for ...
suspension/wheels/tires/paintjob/gauges/clutch

And you have a sub 12 second car easy. With a brand new bullet proof drive train.

NOW THE GOODIES!

Weight 2834lbs (might be slightly different)
500HP
should run in the 11's!

wouldn't this allow you to lower the compression ratio, thereby allowing the engine to be turbocharged at a higher psi? if that's the case go for it!!! boost the shyt out of it, and throw in a twin turbo!! now that'll rock!

Sure you can buy POS 5L mustang and have it go fast. But to have the speed in addition to all the amenties done CUSTOM costs money.

1st it wouldnt be 5L mustang anymore. 2nd it really wouldn't be a POS anymore. Mustang has never been a near luxury car. Cheap sports car. Did you read my mods?

ya, all of the amenties would be gone... But if you looking to dump $20k into a car for speed. Why not just buy another car designed to go fast was my point? Leave the near luxury cruiser alone...

At least with the CLS anyway, $20k in a GS400,IS300 would get you going... Seems a waste in this vehicle IMO... ($20k in engines mods anyway) But to each his own...

Lol because i could have luxury AND speed in the same vehicle I see what you are saying. New s60R is out. I live in the north and so RWD is a I'd need something that's either FWD or AWD.

Yeah... but I don't think anybody would spend $20K on their CL-S... for ANY kind of mods - that's a waste of money I think.

If I had $20K to blow... and replace the CL-S, I'd buy a Civic or some kind of beater... throw in a K20 (type-R) motor in there and run 12.5's all day and all night... and for good measure, throw in
a 50shot NOS and run 11's all day and all night safely and get 30mpg!

Not to mention very little insurance for that little rocket (the motor will cost more than the car itself!)

Speed is one thing..........speed and luxury is something completely different.

Not arguing with you on that point... just my opinon. Now.. if I had a LOT of money.. I'd spend $50K on my CL-S and make it a very fast race-car WITH all the luxury amenities... but then I'd have a CL55 (or 65) to drive around in

Agreed, let's face it if we had 20k to blow on a toy car then it really wouldn't matter anyway

THE QUESTION IS CAN THEY DO A AWD CONVERSION!!!!!!!
That would rock!!! perhaps steal the system from a MDX or an A6 quattro. Then you would have luxury, handling, anda one of a kind car. You could add more power here and there. Then you would have a show car that flies. Not much different then those kids who put 80 grand into a civic or 100 grand into a Supra.

Siggy: I could make a Mustang (5.0) go alot faster than 11's

Motor (bottom end complete from DSS): 3000 (331/347ci)
Trick Flow heads: 1200
Edlbrock Performer RPM Intake: 500
70 mm TB and 73MM mass air: 500
36lb injectors: 200
Ati Procharger: 3000
Suspension work (Upper/Lower control arms, torque box inserts, subframe connectors): 500
3:73/4:10 gear and 31 spline axles: 500
Total: 9400

A decent shape Mustang: 5000-8000

This set up would garuntee 10 sec 1/4 mile times!!!

if i were to put all this power into a cl-s, u gotta make a RWD conversion, cause theres better cars to dump your $$ into, like a twin turbo gs 430.

i didnt want this to get off on a tagent about mustangs and cars that can be made fast...to me it sounds like they could easily get you 50+ hp ...so 275hp the ground ,sounds like fun,and ill bet it would be bullet proof,... now if you had a 6mt ,with the fly wheel, and a worked engine and heads that would wind 9K rpm's,...300 hp to the ground, sounds like the lowest of low 13's in the 1/4...if i had the money id do it in a heart beat....and ill just say, look at a couple people that have put 40+ K in mostly stereo equipment , if you just put 10k into go fast, man you'd have one of the most deadly sleepers out there....and still be a comfortable daily driver

No thanks to 4k to 6k when a 70shot of nos will cost $1000.00 max and you will blow away the guy who spent all that dough on the comptech motor And not mention still have the tranny problem that he might not get covered because you rebuilt the whole engine withthe nos take out and thrn get the tranny replaced
