Comptech springs and Koni Yellows installed WOW!!

Well I finally got tired of the 4X4 look and I've never liked the floaty shocks on this car so I took the plunge and ordered Springs, Konis and a Helms manual and put it all together today. Just went for a short drive and the difference is truely amazing! No more bobbing up and down between shifts and no more back end rising up when you hit the brakes. I was planning on just doing the shocks as I didn't want a harsh ride bit I'm glad I did the springs. The ride is perfect. I can't believe a car can corner so flat and still have a very comfortable ride. The drop is also perfect. Looks like it should have been that height stock. I didn't get the "Comptech rake" though which I kind of like. I think it's because the 6-speed is 60lbs lighter in the front. Probably why the 6-speeds sit so high in the front too. I think I may do a rear sway to reduce the understeer a bit but the car is totally transformed from stock. Best ride/handling compromise I've ever experienced.

Congrats... I put the CT springs/sways on using the stock shocks. Although, handling is much better, the stock shocks don't dampen very well on rough or bumpy road surfaces. So, I'll be installing konis in a about a month. I had a ride in CompTech's proto CLS 6sp with all the goodies and it's ride quality was very close to stock but handled the rough roads surprisingly better.

Get the sways too. If you like what the springs did, you'll love the sways.

Yes I'm curious to see how it is with the sways. I think I'm just going to get the Neuspeed rear bar to try and get the car to rotate a little better. I can't wait to try an auto-x with the new setup.

Congrats! What type of Koni's did you get. I'm still debating as to which set to get. Koni/Neuspeed or Koni Yellows. I'm curious as to how much of the adjustable ride height I can use from the Koni/Neuspeed. On the other hand I've found a set of Koni/Neuspeeds for less than any price I've seen for a set of Koni Yellows. Thanks for any advice or help yall can give me

I got the Neuspeeds. They weren't much more than the regular and I wanted to have the finer adjustments in case the car didn't sit quite right. Also the 20mm shorter shaft seems like a good idea with springs. I doubt I will need the height adjustment though. The car sits perfect.

I have the koni yellows with the Comptech's and I love it! Best money I've spent on this car. The ride suits this car very well!

I'm curious if you had any issue with reinstalling the rear sway bar and getting it tight. The tech who did mine said that he banged up his knuckles pretty bad trying to get things back together back there.

I didn't take the sway bar off. I just pulled the suspension down with a pry bar and pulled the strut assembly out. It was a little tight but I figure it was easier than removing the sway bar.

I got them here.

They may not be the cheapest but they aren't too bad. Shipped everything right away too. Shocks were $327 a pair for the Neuspeeds. Regular yellows are around $15 less per pair.

So what's the difference between the Koni Yellows and the Neuspeed Konis? Is it just a shorter shock w/ finer adjustments? What are benefits of Neuspeed Koni (if any)? Are both good for Comptech springs or is one better suited for the CT drop than the other?

Pretty much. The Neuspeeds have 5 grooves so you can fine tune the height and a 20mm shorter shaft. I'm not sure if the shorter shaft is necessary with the CT springs as they are a pretty mild drop. I wanted to get the Neuspeeds so I could adjust the height if it didn't sit just right but it's fine. I'm sure the regular ones would be fine too. I miss-quoted the price difference in my earlier post. The regulars are $278 a pair which is quite a bit cheaper than the Neuspeeds.

Agui..... www.tornactive.com

The Koni/Neuspeeds are $149.00 each. I got my CAI from them and they took about a week for delivery by UPS ground.

That's it . . . I'm gonna have to buy some Koni's. I've been thinking about this for a while since I don't really like the ride w/ just CT springs installed (choppy).

Exactly most plan too... the CT springs w/ stock shocks are okay on smooth to medium road surfaces, but like you said, choopy when driving on uneven or rough road surfaces.
