Comptech S/C and Dealer Warranty

I called a few of the dealers around me to see what would happen to my warranty if I added the blower. It seemed like they said if anything happened i would be on my own , this sucks cause i am considering the blower but i dot know if its worth to take the risk, this is my daily driver.

All the people with s/c's on the board, how did your dealer respond to your supercharger??

Isnt the law that they must prove in court that the aftermarket product cause something to falfucntion before they void my warranty.

I agree with the dealer 100% on this one.
Headers or Intake are one thing, but injecting the engine with pressure it wasn’t designed for can lead to bad things happening.
I know there are guys here with thousands of trouble-free supercharged miles, but I still feel Acura shouldn’t have to pay if it goes BOOM.

Darrinb are you a rookie or somehting ????you asked the wrong questions of course they are gonna say no!!! shit they want to say no to headers and intake if they could get away with it

try this approach..call and ask if the tranny is still covered by the warranty for the remainder of the 7year/100K miles. I would go as far as to say that your building a show car that will be going to carshows but dont want to be replacing defective trannies.. You see once they extended their warranty for the tranny they are admitting that the tranny is defective which means it failed because of the manufacturing defect and not because of the supercharger. I wouldnt ask for the engine because you are aware that it puts more strain on the engine so what you rebuild it if it goes with stronger internals but trannies would kill teh deal...

I agree. With that kind of forced induction, you should be ready to take all the blame.

some cars are built to handle it and some arent. I think the 3.2 non type s motor or the 6th gen accord motor can handle the fi much better. The type s has too high of a compression where as the other motors are more boost friendly. It reminds me whn a few years back some pontiac gt guyst thought that their cars could handle the boost like the gtp motor. Then engines started going boom.

Best of luck, My dealership probably wouldn't know where to begin if I showed up with a blower under the hood (I seemed to be the only modded CL in my city). They would probably just stare at it for about 20 mins, then call me and ask "what is this"...heh

dont waste your money Darrin. You need a faster car, not bandaids on your acura.

Since accellleration is your only goal here, it would be quite an embarassment putting 6 k into your SC (ending up with a 40k investment) and getting smoked by a 20k neon

It's one thing to quote the Magnusson-Moss act, it's another thing to force it onto a dealer/servicer.

If they are unwilling, are you willing to pursue it legally and spend the time and money to have it enforced?

IMHO, I'd rather have a mod friendly dealer then attempt to ram the Magnusson-Moss act down his/her throat.

It's hard to imagine a problem when the same dealer who sold you the car sells you the SC and installs it. My dealer recommends Comptech and there is nothing on the install paperwork that warns you are voiding anything.

Since when is 60 H.P. to the wheels a waste of $$ ?

According to your reasoning, no one would purchase a stock 3 or 5 series BMW, they'd really get smoked by a Neon.

My dealer has been very mod friendly, especially w/ Comptech parts (S/C included). In fact, the car goes in for the tranny next Tuesday and they are honoring the warranty. It is South Coast Acura.
