Comptech Quiet Tip Insert Install

Reading the install procedures and as usual comptechs drawing and instructions make NO sense.

How hard could it be to install a silencer? Doesn't it just clamp right in?

what is the quiet tip?

What is this thing? I need something to quiet the noise from sway bar brushing. It's quite embarrassing. Thanks

well without proper tools you cant do it

first you are drilling through some hard as metal and its not fun at all

tools REQUIRED

Powerfull drill
drill bit that came with the tips
center punch
hammer

first you want to start with a COLD exhaust. if the car was running let the mufflers cool down before you do any work (about 3 hours)

put the quiet tips in the exhaust and adjust the tip until it has a perfect fit. i believe the holes for the screws line up between the 10 oclock-2oclock position. once you have it where you want it make sure its not loose. next you want to mark the point you want to drill. Mark it with scratching it with a a sharp object or paint whatever works for you. next take out the quiet tip and get your center punch (looks like a big chisel but with a point) and postion it where you have the mark. give it a good wack with your hammer. make sure you dont hit yourself or your car!!! this may take some time. but you want to get a very good size dimple or indention. Not a little poke but something deep enough when you put the screw in it wont move around. You might want to hit it soft and slow at first so you get the feeling of how to do it. once you get it down then you really start to hit hard until the indention is made. Once you get a good size indention you want to put the tips back in to see if it lines up right. if it lines up right then you are in good shape. next get your powerful driil and start drilling the hole. IF YOU DONT GET A GOOD SIZE HOLE WITH THE CENTER PUNCH YOU WONT BE ABLE TO DRILL. the drill bit will just walk all over the exhaust. remember to start off slow with the drill then gradually apply pressure and speed. once you get completely through put your tips back in and screw them in!

the hardest thing is getting the inital hole. but once you get it it should be easy

remember remove the tips BEFORE drilling or you might mess up the little tabs!!!!!
