Comptech or K&N filter in stock air box
I was wondering if anyone just changed the filter element in the stock air box? Did ya notice any improvement in performance or gas mpg? Comptech claims 5hp gain, not bad for $60.

I guess the cai is the way to go...
Just looking for some logical excuse to wimp out. If you could realy get 5hp from the filter change for $60, it would be hard to justify $200+ for 7hp.

I put the K&N in at 6000 miles and now have 7900 miles. I haven't really noticed any increase in hp (K&N says about 2 hp increase), but I have noticed a definite increase in hwy gas mileage. On the stock filter I was averaging 27 mpg/hwy and on the K&N I'm averaging 32 mpg/hwy.
