Comptech IceBox Install
Comptech IceBox Install
I wanted to get my IceBox installed from Montgomeryville Acura (PA). They said they cannot give me an estimate, since it is not something they normally do. Basically, they will tell me how much the install will cost, after the install. I know all of you will say go to Park Ave Acura, and I will look into that. But for the time being, does anyone have any experience with Montgomeryville Acura and Comptech Mods? Thanks.

IMHO...
This is an easy install for anyone that can insert tab A into slot B and knows righty tighty/lefty loose-y.
If Montgomeryville Acura cannot give you a reasonable estimate, I'd shy away from them. If the service manager had half a brain they would look at the instructions to install online from ComptechUSA and generate a reasonable estimate. If they've never seen one before and they're lunkheads, they should be able to install it in under two hours. The estimate would be (shop rate) x 2 hours. If their techs have done it before then they should be able to complete the install in 1 hour.
I've had my Comptech stuff installed by the Park Ave folks. Their reputation is well earned. It looks like Park Ave charges $135 for the install -- I'm guessing that's about 1.5 hours of shop time. Not the cheapest, but also not unreasonable.
I did the IceBox install myself.
I've heard that Marty Sussman Acura in Maple Shade, NJ is Comptech friendly (I think NSXNEXT has said this).
My local Acura dealer (Ardmore) has a pretty crappy reputation and although I've had reasonable experiences with them, I still went to PAA for my Comptech installs.

No need to worry about warranty issues -- almost all dealerships are OK with CAI systems.
I personally think you should do it yourself. It's probably the easiest mod next to switching out the foglight bulbs.
There are DIY instructions out there with pictures. Read up on it, ask questions on the forums, and give it a shot.
If not... a performance shop should be able to do it for about 50-75 dollars. Even at 75, it's kind of expensive.

i'm thinking that the dealer is gonna try to rape ya on labor charges, i'm not a diy type of person so i would just take it to a preformance shop, shouldnt be more than 75 dollars for the install
when I first got my CT springs, King Acura wanted $624 to install them, they said it took 2 hours per side to install them, which broke down to around $156 per hour labor.
I took it to the shop that does work on my jeep, did it for $200.
