Comptech headers are a light copper color now, is that normal?
I was filling up my windshield washer fluid today and noticed that the Comptech headers, the part that is visible at least to the naked eye, were like a light copper color now. Is that normal for the headers? I know they were silver when I had them installed. I sure hope nothing is wrong here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

For $1200 bux they SHOULD ceramic coat them. Not only would they look brand new forever, they would give more HP, and keep the temps down under the hood.
Actually, the need for stainless is negated when ceramic coatings are used. And the price difference for my Mustang headers was a miniscule $100 bux more for the coating.
You could ship your headers to a company called "Jet-Hot" and they will put the coating on for you, but I was disappointed when I saw no option on the Comptech site.

Why would lower underhood temps, smoother surface on the id/od, as well as keeping the good looks be of no benifit??
Stainless is a good material, but does not hold the finish, and looks are important to allot of people.

I talked with bnut and he didnt loose any power, he just didn't gain as much as he was expecting from the headers, but he also said that it was probably due to the fact that the rest of the exhaust was still factory.
But IMO, even if there were NO performance gains, just to have them look brand new for the life of the car would be well worth it!
