Comptech Exhaust, 2500RPM droning?

I get a drone on my 6 speed at 2500RPM. It's really bad in my car cause if I do the 65mph speed limit in 6th gear That hit's 2500RPM exactly. I have to put the car in 5th, or speed up in 6th. It's really loud, even with the stereo cranked. In fact I get this drone with any gear at 2500RPM. Is this normal?

Yes it's normal. Comptech sells "quiuet tip" inserts that remove the drone. It also makes the car sound pretty much stock. $40 from Comptech.

LOL it's funny seeing some of the same issues on the Nissan boards. Of course there are different names for the standard mods, but you get the idea. Does the Comptech exhaust have a resonator?

Yeah only at 2500RPM. I'm usually not at that RPM, I got stuck behind a cop today doing the 65 limit, I set the cruise in 6th, & noticed it.

Comptech is quietest. It's not that bad at all. Wait until you sit in someone's Accord V6 with a full catback system. It is loud as hell that gives you a migrain. You should just learn to love your Comptechs.

I agree, the Comptech's were a little loud to me at first but since being in many other cars with aftermarket exhaust, I realized how quiet the Comptech's are.

Compared to others yes it's "quiet" I was just wondering if it was normal. I didn't notice it before.

When inserting the quiet tips (silencers) is there any drilling required?

The drone should ease up after you break in the exhaust after 5k to 10k. If you think that's loud try Apexi Dunk. I have it on my Prelude for 3 month and just have to get rid of it but I still love the sound Dunk put out when I'm not inside the car in the hot summer.

Yup, you have to drill two small holes on the inside top of the tip. You cannot see the screw at all.

I will agree that the drone "loosens" up after a while. I have the quiet tips and I have not had them on for a while. Normally on long trips I put them on.

Yeah, I just got new Comptechs yesterday. Just sitting at my place waiting to be installed. I decided against the GReddy EVO's this time around because of the hassle of that long-ass piping.

I was going to leave the car stock and buy a motorcycle, but school screwed that up. No time to learn...and no time to put on the mods...haha.
