Comptech Exhaust 2000 rpm "DRONE NOISE" is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting annoyed when my car shifts in to D5, at around 1500-2500 rpm, that drone noise is driving me crazy. Is there anything I can do????????????????

I love the looks and the startup sound, but the droning does get on my nerves at times. Hammerman just did the silencers and spray painted the inserts and you can't see them. I'm gonna hear them tomorrow night and decide if they are for me. Maybe he'll post pics. He said the droning is gone.

WTF is a "header stud kit"? They're selling them now, whatever they are.

Also, did Comptech Headers always include a downpipe?

Damn $1250. The price has gone UP if anything. WTF.

Used to be $1000, then $1100, now $1250.

I bought the inserts and i installed them today... also painteed them black so you can see them..

Sounds real close to stock now..... its nice to have a break from the noise of the comptechs..
Plus its easy to take the quiet tips out if you wanted the noise back on some days.

I would consider some sound damping material before inserts. Keep the cabin quiet from exhaust, road & tire noise. Apply near exhaust and wheel wells. If it is still too noisy, go for the inserts.

I agree.. I love that noise too!! Considering 80% of my drive is highway and I'm usually around the 2k - 2300 RPM area, that noise is all I hear. What's funny is that after a week of having them installed, I don't really even hear it anymore!! I have my radio on (not too loud in the morning) and I still don't hear it. Maybe I'm not as picky as others.... I also think that my intake is so quiet that when I read topics about people not getting it b/c it's loud, I laugh. That could be b/c my CL had a short ram which was SOOO much louder then the CAI....

Okay so it's pointless to get the Comptechs and the silencers - you're back to stock sound.

If you're getting exhaust for "looks" you're better off with HKS - supposedly they're slightly quieter than the Comptechs and they look much cooler.

I prefer the looks of the Comptechs. The construction of the pipe looks thicker.

It sure does work. Makes my Comptechs sounds like the OEM exhaust except at WOT.

So you spent $650 for pipes that look "thicker"? Oooooookay.

If you paid attention you would have noticed that my comment was in reference to the HKS tips vs the Comptech, not the factory exhaust.
