Is This Common?
When I first start my CL-S, I let it warm up for a couple minutes. As I drive down the street and the car gets up to about 40 MPH, I get a "flat spot" while accelerating. That is, it feels like it's going to stall for a split second, then it's ok. What the hell is this now? Anyone else experience this?
I think it's the car switching to a warm mode from a cold mode or the torque converter. Mine does it at the same time and spot every morning when the temperature is about 55-60 degees and then it's fine. It's happened for 2 1/2 years.
I haven't brought it up because it only seems to happen during early acceleration basically the one time, and then all is well for the rest of the day. If it happened during higher revs, while shifting into higher gears or during acceleration at freeway speeds I'd be concerned but I guess I don't see it as much of an inconvenience. However, as I'm taking my car in for the 15K service on Monday, I'll make a note to pose that question to the dealer and see what they say. I'll let you know next week if I remember to ask them.
