Which Clutch should I get for my 2003 6 speed CL?
#41
As far as the single mass flywheel, I would probably go with that also. Even better, if you can find out if it's compatible, a lightened flywheel does wonders for a car. It doesn't need to be a featherweight aluminum one.... billet steel ones are lighter by a few lbs and can resist warping better than the aluminum ones too.
I know people who have been driving stick for years and some of them depress the clutch pedal and stay in gear while rolling to a stop. One in particular cooked her clutch while driving in a really hilly city.
I don't know for sure but I would think TLs and Accords would use a dual mass flywheel too, either way if anything if the CL had a dual mass flywheel it probably wouldn't have that shudder. Also, a bad motor mount is pretty obvious when its truly bad. The whole car will shake and shudder while even accelerating even a little bit, not just while shifting.
The 2G TL and 2G CL have very similar underpinnings, and are almost identical on paper. They are both based off of the Accord platform as many Hondas are, but they really are more closely related to each other than any other Honda/Acura. That explains why the 2G TL had a provision/plate for the clutch pedal even though it was never offered with a manual, and why the auto-manual swap is as close to a "drop-in" job as a tranny swap can get.
Something is either wrong with both of your CLs, or something's wrong with your driving.
It's not poor shifting, this is what a CL does when being shifted at normal RPM's. I have been driving stick for 3 constant years, im not new to this. It might not be the clutches that make the CL do this, im now thinking it could just be the duel mass flywheels that give it this effect.
Also, you have a TL with the CL swap, there could be 50+ reasons for shifting differences. Your car has a different structure than a CL with a slightly different weight distribution this could also be why your car has a different feel when shifting.

I love my Comptech Aluminum Flywheel - no warpage.
Agree that a single mass flywheel is a good second choice and preferrable over the dual mass OEM unit if one is available out of the Accord.

i would like to say to jacob i dont want to be rude but you were really poorly shifting on this video i can shift smoooth as baby's butt is with bad motor mount and i dont have this issue it has to be bushings or idk you have to work on your shifting technique cuz you gonna mess your clutch up soon. i know it more like driving habbits that our skills i catch my self sometimes on the same thing

I'm second guessing the OEM decesion, still waiting to decide before I order one.....I think I can get a Exedy unit for an extremely good price, even cheaper then 300, <----opinions needed!!

Just watched the vid. Youre definately letting the clutch out too quickly. I sometimes do that when Im very tired. You gotta learn to smooth it out.
